The Undertaker was going to be the Gobbledy Gooker.
Chyna was supposed to defeat Steve Austin for the WWF Championship at Summerslam 1999.
HBK was going to go over Hogan at Summerslam 2005, but because of Hogan's politicking, this was changed. That is why he oversold everything hilariously.
Muhammad Hassan was going to win the World Heavyweight Championship in 2005, breaking Randy Orton's record as the youngest World Champion.
The original main event for Wrestlemania XV was Stone Cold vs The Rock vs Mankind.
Triple H has changed a bunch of stuff over the years, like losing to Booker T and going on last at 'Mania 18.
Sting, Brock Lesnar and Wade Barrett were all considered to break the streak in 2011.
The whole McMahon murder fiasco was going to be revealed as Linda McMahon who murdered her husband, and Vince would leave the WWE in the hands of his "son" Mr. Kennedy.

thats awesome I never even heard about that Thanks for posting that There's a lot of "original plans" in the book My Favorte Match. For example, Razor Ramon was actually supposed to fight Goldust in the Hollywood backlot brawl at Wrestlemania, not Roddy Piper. But since Razor left, Piper fought him instead. On Pipers dvd Bruce Prichard said Piper was supposed to face OJ Simpson but canned it due to the murder situation at the time and that's when goldust was chose, because they wanted "controversy " because that's what goldust was at the time.

So I guess that's the full reason why. Goldust was supposed to face Razor, but Razor Ramon left to go to WCW, and Piper was going to face OJ Simpson, but because of the murder situation, and they decided to have Goldust face Piper because they were both left opponent-less and because Goldust was controversial.

Booker T was supposed to go over Triple H at Wrestlemania 19 but Trips refused to put him over. Austin was supposed to put over Brock Lesnar in a King Of The Ring qualifier on Raw. Austin refused, saying he didn't feel right giving away a PPV quality match on free television. He famously quit the company days later. Randy Orton was supposed to end the streak at Wrestlemania 21, as was Mark Henry at Wrestlemania 22, as was Kurt Angle at some point. All three refused to do it out of respect for The Undertaker. Fake Kane was supposed to be revealed as the "Real Kane", and the story was going to be that he had been imprisoned by the current Kane years earlier. Brock Lesnar was supposed to be revealed as gay in 2002.Vince McMahon's infamous death storyline was supposed to end with Mr. Kennedy being revealed as his son. That would have been the single worst storyline in the history of anything.

I've heard that Hogan was always going to go over HBK at SS, but that they were suppose to have 3 matches. Hogan wins the first at SummerSlam, HBK takes it at Survovor Series, and Hogan wins the third at WM. Plans changed with Hogan reportedly not wanting to work 3 matches, and it was changed to the one match.

The only good thing about the match that they did have, was HBK overselling everything. Apparently Hogan was really PO'd about that.

In no way would I believe OJ Simpson wrestling Piper. I think thats just Bruce blowing smoke up people's ass. OJ's trial didnt end until Oct 95 and. Piper hadnt been in the WWF since Wrestlemania 11. He came back like the last day of Jan 1996 to be Interm President. With Piper not around for a whole year & the looming civil suit that OJ was going to have put on him, WWF wouldnt have even sniffed putting OJ in a match.

Apparently the NAO were going to officially join DX at the 1998 Royal rumble but it was pushed back for some reason It was pushed back because at the time DX realized that the NAO were doing just fine on their own. So instead of them joining the group, they would work with them at times (like at No Way Out 98). But when HBK got injured and they had to rebuild DX, that is when the NAO got the okay to go into the group.

Drew McIntyre was supposed to face the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 26. The Taker Wrestlemania opponent rumor is always a comical one. Over the years I remember the following was supposed to happen Taker/Kane vs. Haku/Rikishi at Mania 17 — Trips was supposed to box Mike Tyson at the event, when that failed Taker slid into the match with H Taker/Nash at Mania 18 — Heard this on another site, not sure how it would have worked but intriguing since Nash didn't have an opponent at Mania. Taker/Kane vs. Snitsky/Heidenreich at Mania 21 — Can't remember what exactly killed this one, but seeing what happened to the opposition shortly thereafter probably good that it was killed. Taker/Angle at Mania 22 — Heard this one was supposed to happen before Guerrero's death. Every match basically changed after that. Taker/Kozlov at Mania 25 — Perhaps the best example of going from an abomination to absolute perfection in every sense. Thank god this match didn't happen. Taker/McIntyre or Sheamus at Mania 26 — I recall seeing rumors in late 2009 claiming a title unification match at Mania between Sheamus and Taker. Didn't know about McIntyre. Taker/Barrett, Brock or Sting at Mania 27 — Barrett was rumored after the Nexus attack, Sting was rumored during the 2/21/11 promos, Brock cus Vince thought he could borrow him from UFC.

That just seems a bit weird. However they did do the skit with the white Bronco. Thats probably what got all the OJ stuff started.

In 1996 I don't think WWF would've been ready to touch a subject like OJ. By 1998, it wouldn't have surprised me, though.

Here's a few soft balls...
Rumors were that Ted Dibiase was supposed to win the WMIV tournament. But for one reason of another they went with Randy Savage.
Triple H was supposed to have won the KOTR the year Austin did. But he was being punished for the Curtain Call so they went with Austin. Thank god for everyone that happened.
Triple H was supposedly going to be the corporate champion instead of the Rock. But a knee injury prevented it so Rock was used instead.
I think we can all agree that in these cases, the back up plans turned out to what was best for business.

Is/wasnt it rumored that DiBiase was suppose to win but Hogan went to bat for Savage & basically forced Vince into switching it. Thus to repay DiBiase they gave him the Million Dollar Title. I want the fall out from that had something to do with Warrior & Honky Tonk Man with the IC title or that might have been something different as well.

I've heard the part about the Million Dollar Championship, but I'm not sure bout the rest. To be honest, I never heard about Dibiase/WMIV till someone here was talking about it once.
