I get >90% of my figures from Ringside except for the store exclusives I want, which I sometimes get off eBay, so to me it's not much of an issue. But I say this all the time: rules (and laws) are only as good as they are enforced.

Well done. Glad you reported it. It's becoming a big problem here in Toronto. Not just Toronto, Toronto and the GTA. I live in Oakville, and I came across a Faarooq and Bradshaw at Walmart that were swapped with their old Jakks figures. I took them up to customer service and told them that they were swapped and showed them pics on my phone of what the original figures looked like. The woman at the desk said she'd contact her manager and let him know what was going on. Hopefully they catch the guy. Oh man small world! I'm from Oakville as well and I have found this is a huge problem at the Oakville TRU as well. At least 3 or 4 Daniel Bry's with the two belts were back on the shelves, full price, but with both belts missing!!! That TRU is brutal anyway but still hope they catch the guy!

This EXACT thing happened at a local TRU. And I mean verbatim, too. I thought I was helping the store and pointing out the flaw that was set to sell to the uninformed consumer and they looked at me like I was the culprit. They had no idea of the figure switch scam. Right back on the shelves three days later. There was a guy at my local TRU that was swapping out Marvel Legends with those interchangeable parts Marvel figures. I brought it to the attention of the employees and I had to explain it a few times before they finally understood.

i used to see them alot, not so much now, the prices now and shelfwarmers help solve the issue for us here, but i could see it being a major problem if you have good stores that restock on time etc. i wish MDT would just make the boxes be destroyed if you open it. but thats been rehashed several times. Yea just keep reporting it until management does something about it. if at all.

Between the scalpers and the swappers, it's impossible to find anything good at retail. I hate people and I hate going to stores, so I just buy everything from Amazon, and so far, I've been able to get everything I want from Amazon.

I think this sums it up very well.
I commend those that are trying to do the right thing by reporting the re-packs but at the end of the day you are wasting your time IMHO. The fact that the stores are putting the altered products back on the shelf should tell you that they don't give a crap and IMO they are worse then the crooks who stole the figure in the first place because they are trying to sell people an altered product at a higher price (from what I have read here most re-packs consist of elites being swapped for basics so if someone with no knowledge of these figs were to buy the re-pack they would be getting a basic figure for the price of an elite).
I think, as jsmells pointed out, the problem lies with Mattel and the fact that they use packaging that allows people to swap out figures easily. They should go back to the style of packaging that the Legends line figures came in.

Target has such a **** selection, I really would not care if someone swapped a Daniel Bryan or JYD that's been sitting there for a year.

Oakville TRU has no elites as of right now. So likely somebody bought the dbrys or they caught the thief.

I think the constant reporting about figure swapping on sites like these give them ideas on how to do it. I rarely saw it in stores until I started seeing the countless threads on here, now I see it everywhere. I'm not reading this whole thread, so maybe someone else already made this point. But ignoring the issue on this site isn't the answer to the problem. This is a problem that Mattel and retailers need to address. It's Mattel's job to package in a way to best discourage this practice, and it's the stores job to train people and care about the issue. The issue here is that a repackaged figure is a small probem for really big stores with other really big problems they need to address...every day.

No one does that here, unless you go to Daytona Walmart. I suggest for your safety, you don't. I went in their at night one time after a WWE event, half the figures had stolen parts and the other half were missing from the package. They also get bomb threats like every other week.

I can only imagine what the TRU debut Cena will look like after sitting on the shelf for a few months. I just assume at this point that if you don't have it by New Year's, all of the ones still on the shelf will be without belts due to stupid thieves.

I'm not saying to ignore it, but glorifying it on here over the years has given the idea to lots more. Plus, bringing it up to the design team isn't going to do anything as this has been adressed before numerous times. I'm just as sick as everyone is of going into countless stores and seeing this kind of thing.
