I have like one or two figure with poor paint apps. Mattel does good enough that I don't get any, am I just lucky? So, I think it's pretty good. You can say "I don't care about other toy company QC, just Mattel" but you have to be grateful, WWE could've picked Hasbro to make their figures and we could've gotten a Bucky Cap for just about every figure, from Randy Orton to Dean Ambrose: ![]() ![]() |

I feel that it is fine. Bad paint apps and loose joints are few and far between, in my experience.

And we really don't have super powers to decide which one has perfect joints. But everyone in here, you are just stupid. Speaktomewarriors is a god and we are just his peasants. Calm down. I didn't attack you did I? So need to attack me. I was merely outlining my opinion. Buy at retail, it's safer You're right about retail however some areas retail is basically useless because some stores skip waves or there's so weird case assortment. Not all American retailers are as reliable as say a Smyth's would be. For some people, online is almost the only way to get the figures that they want |

I agree with the OP, compared to past years this is terrible. the QC drops down just like the WWE RAW product go down (storytelling\gimmicks and ratings). its a real buzz kill
if its something i cant fix (lips underneath the lips\ eyes painted on the nose etc) i can get really really mad but it never happened to me. the worst i had in that case is a stardust with messed up edges on his star on his face.
if its paint wear here and there like a tiny blue smudge on the back or something, its easy to remove so no big deal but i get that a LOT.
if its a wrong part issue, its easy to fix with fodder but its irritating. the E39 sting i got from amazon had his left ankle part (not the whole boot, just the lower boot) being a zeb colter style shoe, this is bull****

We shouldn't have to preface every critical post or topic with, "I love what Mattel are doing with the license but..." If they are sucking, I say let it be heard. People are too worried about hurting poor Bill/Mattel's feelings. Some things need to get better and I don't think we need to dance around it.

It's gotten considerably worse throughout the years. I've skipped a lot of figures due to downright sloppy paint jobs.

I can only speak based on my personal experience, but in general I've found Mattel's WWE lines to have pretty good quality control. Then again I only buy Legends/flashbacks so wouldn't notice problems on current talent figures.
That said, on the occassion there is a problem with a figure I order, it's most often a figure's nose looking smushed in or dented. And that issue does bug the heck out of me. So Mattel could certainly look into improving that issue.
Like others have said, I prefer when possible to pick my figures from the shelf so I can choose the best painted/condition/etc, one. But distribution of WWE figures in my area is and has been pretty bad for the last 5 years at least, so often my only option is to order blind online. But yeh, I don't encounter quality control problems that often with WWE Mattel figures. DC Collectables Batman Animated line on the other hand, is becoming a NIGHTMARE to collect because of the quality control problems and the fact that ordering online is my only option with those.

Yeah i hate it. I am not a perfectionist or need my figures to be 100% perfect but i would like them as close as possible or at least pretty good. I hate being in the store and having to compare paint jobs. Especially because i haven't been finding much in them and been relying online more than ever. I also hate when people say then don't buy it. It is such a childish response. As a consumer we have the right to say something is good or bad. If you go to a bad restaurant or something you put a negative review online don't you? Same thing pretty much. I think Mattel has lost a step all around from announcing lineup and showing photos as well. I hate buying something or pre ordering without at least a proto image. I know employees are like "what the hell is he doing," when I'm standing there for minutes on end comparing the same items!! |

I swear on everything there can be close to 10 of the same figure and I'll look at all, grab the top decent looking ones and then choose the best From that. My wife has gotten use to it and even does the same when I ask her to grab me one if she's out. She comes back saying "It was the best looking one" and continues to tell me the defects that the other ones had. Love her even more for that lol. But to me it's something I have to do, not only as a collector but also as the picky person I am. I just wish I DIDN'T have to do all that with Mattel's figures. It's something that should be supervised over there imo |

Hip Swivel... Mother ing hip swivel is all i have to say. Agreed, but thankfully this is one of the easier problems to fix with one of those clear rubber bands. QC's not great. I have countless figs with at least one, if not more loose joints. It's frustrating, esp at the current price point. I got lucky with 2 DM 'Takers and 2 DM Stings looking good. But I'm willing to bet the ones I left MOC have a loose joint somewhere. |

On one hand they are mass produced toys which would mean that they are meant for kids to open and play with. On the other they are marketed as collectables and priced pretty high. At the $15-16 price range they did a great job, but now they cost $20 and are starting to slip more often. I don't pre order often but I did just order a few and would be bummed if I paid $110 for 4 figures with sloppy paint jobs, so I get where you are coming from for sure.
I haven't gotten any figures with bad paint apps though, I think Mattel does a great job for how many figures they produce. Also if I know a figure is having problems (Layla, Tru Punk) I just avoid them.

This is not true.
The price seems high because we remember how inexpensive toys were 10 and 20 years ago. Market price on toys is $10-$20 standard for kids toys. These are still a toy whose primary market is children. And even high-end items aren't always very good either. DC Collectibles statues can have sloppy paint yet cost $80-$100. That's an actual premium.

I hadn't started collecting until Mattel, so I am used to this being the price, but I understand that these are good prices for a good product. These are also much higher quality figures than Jakks or whatever, so I don't have a problem with the price point. It's a great quality figure line that has a decent price, and I would much rather pay 20 dollars for the quality figures Mattel gives us then near 50 for an import WWE figure (although they don't exist) that has more articulation and thirty hands. |

I've bought 5 of Mattel's WWE figures and 3 of them had screwed up eyes. Kane had stuck joints that I would have torn clean off if I weren't already savvy on fixing these things. Unacceptable.
About 1 in 3 of their super hero figs had issues too, gummy joints, screwed up paint, hideous weld lines, etc.
Toy prices in general are unacceptable, the only way my collecting can hobble along is by selling customs.

Sometimes it's frustrating choosing the best ones in retail specially overseas (Im from Asia) since we are getting max of only 1 set per store. If the stock is not that good then we have no choice but to travel thru different stores. If we order online, then we just pray we get a good one. I would say 50% I bought online have bad paint apps. Other toy companies have the same issue but the availability compared to Mattel products overseas is different. Quality of toys lately have gone down as I notice but prices were going up.

It's the same as it has ever been. It hasn't gotten any worse. Hell it has probably gotten better as I haven't had any fused together hips since early 2011.

I had a Punk leg fall clean off the body with Elite series 6. I haven't had an issue since other than E33 Reigns having a very very loose waist. Now, I've had so many QC issues from other toy companies, you guys have no clue how good Mattel is at QC. I bought a Neca Alien.. Leg fell off. Got another, Arm fell off. Said screw the Alien line. Bough a Predator. Fresh from its box, the weapons were warped, and the ankle was crushed. Lets go down the Marvel Legends road. I've lost count on how many of these figures I've had to pass up on due to paint apps. The paint is usually 1 out of 10 looking just right. I had a Thor with a lazy eye, a Agent Venom with warped guns, Thanos BAF with horrible ankle articulation. I have come across 3 bad paint apps from Mattel on the Elite line. It was frim random marks on Earthquake, Doink, and Dean Malenko. It was as simple as passing. Sure, it was the only time I saw those three at retail. But, I'd rather pass then have to look at those marks, that probably could have been buffed out. My point here, is Mattel has a very very small QC issue in the WWE market. Not every toy is perfect. |
