ROH owner Sinclair Broadcasting Group has purchased the Tennis Channel (Cable Network) for around $350 million. This was reported yesterday in the Wall Street Journal. This will give Sinclair their first national TV market, meaning that for the first time in a real long time a 3rd competitor is entering the major TV wrestling business. Do to the fact that their old networks and stations operated under a shared services agreement with local television network partners, they were not able to broadcast nationally. But with their new deal w/ the Tennis Channel it allows them to broadcast live and nationally. In the statement announcing the purchase Sinclair CEO David Smith said that Tennis Channel had high-quality content and advertisers, though it had been valued low and was under-distributed, which SBG intended to rectify. This actually means alot of MONEY can be saved by ROH. Especially since the network your show is broadcasted on, is also owned by the same company who owns you. A big plus.
