Why is Belt on the banned list ? They can only call it so they say title , Championship, or strap ?

I heard strap was banned too but it makes the championship sound less valuable

Belt is believed to be on the banned words list.....unless you are a McMahon. A few weeks ago during a promo when Vince was telling Roman he owned him, he said "and I own that WWE Championship belt".
Stephanie McMahon said "belt" last night too.
So again, the rules only appy to people who are not in the McMahon family because they like to bully people and assert their power over others.

I kind of like that WWE calls the "belt" a title or a championship. It creates a respect factor. If WWE treats the title as something important, and even something so important that you can condescendingly correct someone when they call it by the wrong name, then fans will do the same.
Stuff like this used to bother me as a fan. It's easy to go, well that's stupid and irrelevant. It's really not though and it's all part of the way WWE markets its wrestlers and the importance of the prizes the wrestlers are chasing. I also try and parallel the situation to something a little more close to home. When someone calls an action figure a doll, it's irritating as hell. So I feel it's a similar situation.
I do have a problem with Vince avoiding the word wrestling and wrestlers. I have no issue with putting an emphasis on the word Entertainment but then demonstrate that in your show each week. Raw is a wrestling show, that sometimes features entertainment. I guess from my perspective, there is a huge difference between intelligent marketing and alienating your consumer base by undermining their intelligence. Meh.

It's a championship title. Belt and strap doesn't sound prestigious.

I always refer to them as a "championship title belt". But that can be a mouthful. In a way, when you look at it, they are belts since you can wear it around your waist...duh! Lol... I think this whole thing about the term "belt" being banned is ridiculous.
Maybe if you say it in full, that is "championship title belt", then its ok. But referring to the title and calling it just a "belt", then yeah, it would maybe sound off. Thats probably how Vince sees it.

A memo was issued to WWE announcers back in 2008 on words and phrases that are not allowed on WWE television.
Some of the terms included in the memo were: belt, strap, the business, our industry, pro wrestling, pro wrestler, house show, performer, hospital (notice they always say 'medical facility'), interesting, shot, backstage, feud, faction, fans (WWE Universe) and title changing hands. Also 'grandaddy of them all' when referring to Wrestlemania was also banned because it made the event seem too dated, this is seen even more so today as they stopped referring to Mania by number.

So what? Does someone saying the word belt make the show any better?
