I really like Kirk's head sculpt in PJ's photos. I didn't think they nailed when I saw the promo pics.

I don't know. Because Kirk is the first one I have purchased. I held off on the rest until Kirk came out, because after I got one if they weren't something I was going to continue buying then I would rather Kirk be the only one I owned. But I do like him so I will pick up others I passed on now. I don't know how deep I will go into it, but I will buy Spock as well as a Bones and Scotty when those two are released.

Hey guys, I had a near complete loose Playmates collection that was stolen from my storage locker.
I'm looking to rebuild a little bit without investing too much into the collection. Is eBay the best source for finding good deals on loose figures, or are comic shops and collectable stores still stocked pretty well with these figures?
Thanks!

I got most of mine from ebay and Final Frontier Toys. They often have 50% off sales on the Star Trek figures so keep an eye open for that.

Still no word on my Kirk. I'm getting impatient. However, there is a new Trek comic out today so this will hold me over another day.

I got around to opening up the Mezco figures today because it snowed and I was off work. I can't say enough about the incredible detail in the head sculpts, uniforms and accessories. The rest of the crew is a must and I would love to see what Mezco could do with other classic characters like Gorn, Khan, Kor, Salt Vampire, Mugato, etc. Plus TNG would look amazing in this scale. Now I just need a place to put them.

Ebay......they mostly go for very little nowadays. There's a few that command a higher price but not too many.

I got some Pro-tech display tubes for some of my figures. I got the 8 inch ones that I wanted to use for the FTC Classic TV series Batman line but figures with hats like Penguin or Bookworm don't fit too well but they work great with the Star Trek DST/AA line. Great way to keep the dust off.

Does anyone collect just the basic Playmates 3.5"-4" Star Trek figures?
They were my favourite. I have nearly a complete set. Around 300 figures + I think. Only need two. Got all the specials, mailaways, figures included with games etc etc
Thankfully, apart from a handful..they are worthless compared to my other passion, the WWF Hasbro figures.

Edit: Ok I finally had time to find and sort everything out. I know there isn't much value in the Playmates Star Trek line, but I loved it and I still do. There was such an array of characters and accessories and the majority of them were very available to the average collector. Thanks for looking Superb collection OP. Really nice. Love it. These are my favourite Star Trek figures - they are the ones I grew up with as a kid and collected as kid. I have around 280 Playmates figures in my collection. Including the 5" figures (from First Contact and the 'action range'). There are about 25 of the 5" figures. Did you ever complete your collection? From my extensive research on the range, I have a complete collection except two figures I am yet to find for a good price. I opened all mine (and played with them as a kid), but do have them on display now in a wall cabinet, so I'm happy. I kept all the cards and play set boxes though (minus the bubble for the cards).
