Damn you met a ton of wrestlers!
The person from this list I'd most like to meet was Ivory so I'm glad she was super cool.
That I did! Ivory is awesome, a bit smaller than I expected, but very pretty.
Awesome.
I have that same WCW Ultimate Guide too. I love that book.
It's a great book. Mine's a bit beat up but I couldn't resist having Goldberg sign the cover. Kimberly Page signed the inside of it, getting Harlem Heat's signatures come June.
THANK YOU
I waited on the same line like 4 ing times to get my pre-order ticket
Then ran through the same crap when I was misinformed that I needed to get a Sheik ticket from the main line (which I waited in again), which was completely not true
In the end I met Sheiky baby and all is good in the world
Edit: Koloffs were definitely the highlight of my day. Both were awesome dudes, hope I can see them again soon.
Lol at your Stan Hansen mishap
Awesome autographs, another amazing report!
Thanks!
I went to this too it was my first big event it was decent ya the crowds were tough and i shoulda got there earlier but i got most of my stuff signed and got to talk to some of the wrestlers for a bit
Glad you had a great time despite the crowd!

Yeah, even though Matt made the character his own with his great portrayal, Vince apparently only saw him as an interchangeable character and thus he got treated like Ronald McDonald where anyone could show up and be 'Doink'.....it sucks but ever since he was turned face and a typical goofy party clown character he became just an outfit to fill....at least in a small way it helps the character to live on though. Although not sure, but I think that might be Ray Apollo in those pics. At least he made the most effort to emulate the original Doink the best he could. If anyone he should def. do the signings events. Ray played Doink overall the longest. Pretty much His entire face run including Wrestlemania 10 & Survivor Series with all of the midget doinks vs Lawler. Outside of Bourne he portrayed Doink during easily his most popular years as he was super over as a face in that time frame.
Honestly Borune, Appollo, Steve Lombardi, & Steve Keirn all to me are valid versions of Doink that should sign the entry after that no one else should work the gimmick but it is a gimmick that will live on forever.
Agreed on that last point.
Awesome! I love watching my Encyclopedia fill up with autographs too! Man I would've had JR and Lawler record a ring tone
"BAH GAWD HE'S GONNA DO IT!"
:Lawler shriek:
"HE'S GONNA PICK UP HIS PHONE!"
"YES!"
"HE DID IT! HE DID IT!"
Glad I'm not the only one who loves getting sigs in the Encyclopedia!
Looks like you had a great time despite the cluster chaos and disorganisation and you scored some sweet autographs, pictures and memories that will last forever. Very cool story, I enjoyed reading it.
Thanks, man!
That's really awesome you got to meet all those wrestlers
Thanks!
I'm on markedout, too and always enjoy your posts!
As for Ray Apollo, he has every right to be doing these autograph signings. He is a true WWF wrestler. I personally think he does too little appearances. He should be having matches against the indy fakes.
Yes, Matt Borne was the original Doink, but Vince had to do what was "best for business" at the time. Matt either left or was fired due to the drug issues. The character was still popular and yes, interchangeable. The silly kiddie gimmicks like face Doink were coming about, I guess Vince went with a new direction for Doink. It did work. He had a several month fued with Bam Bam, a short one with Jarrett and a slightly longer feud with King. Around early 1995 the character was going down on the card but the character last around another year. I think his last appearance was early 1996 against Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
I wish Matt Borne had lived longer and got to enjoy the convention scene and making money signing the books and figures. Sadly, he passed but Ray is a very valid signature. He has the picture in the encyclopedia, not Matt. He appeared at several PPVs, so can sign programs or videos and dvds and several of the toys (Justoys, Jakks and maybe Mattel) depict his image in figure form.
Ah I've seen you on there! I enjoy your posts as well!
Nice pictures and story man! Doink and Dink still look pretty much the same as they did in the New Generation days.
Thanks! They're very fun guys!
Paul Roma looks like he could actually be Chris Master's Dad. Come to think of it, I met Mick Foley and Terry Funk in 1998 and Foley was eating pepperoni pizza while signing autographs, didnt think much of it until now.
Jim Cornette thought he was Ken Shamrock
