Sarcasm is not needed bro just looking for advice It isn't just sarcasm as theses days Mattel rerelease a lot. It is sarcasm I don't see them re-releasing basic 5 hurricane helms or that signature series Dean Ambrose ever again

I would have to agree. If you haven't made that decision yourself based on the product that's out there then you shouldn't be asking.

I'm collecting for my son for when he's older, and I started a few years ago now, otherwise if I had to start today i'd say no because many of the figs I have are way too much on the secindary market. Plus ai mainly collect Legends only so the chances to see them recurring each wace is slim.

I had the same dilemma when I started collecting Mattel. I thought that I had missed out on too many great figs and was too late to start collecting again. But they are always coming out with awesome new figs and re-releasing some of the best that you might have missed. I started out just buying a few guys that I liked here and there and my collection grew faster than I would have expected. I would say just try to collect the guys they are releasing and be patient, don't go back and pay ridiculous prices for guys you missed, over time you can make a decision to stick with it or not. Just my opinion, good luck with whatever you decide.

Here's what I can tell you.
I was a Jakks collector, bought nearly every WWE figure they made, and then sold them all off once Jakks lost the WWE contract. I never really got into the idea of Jakks and TNA. Then, at some point some time ago I found a Brian Pillman figure on clearance at Target and bought it because he is my all-time favorite and Jakks never made him in such an attire. Then I found Alberto Del Rio and Evan Bourne Basics on clearance and bought those to see what they were like. It's just been a spiral since then, though I also have a son now and he helps decide who we should and shouldn't buy (He recently turned down that new Prime Time Players Battle Pack, probably because he doesn't know/care who they are) I only really buy the figures I want and don't feel the need to buy one of everybody or buy an updated figure when someone changes their gimmick, as I did in the Jakks days. Still, I have a collection now of just over 100 figures in total and am happy with them.
My thing about collecting WWE Mattel figures is this. There has never been a time when you could have as complete of a collection of wrestling figures as you can now. With Jakks, I only dreamed about guys like Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and others. Now they are a reality. But with these modern wrestlers (Cesaro, Kalisto, etc.) you also get a wonderful mix of classics. I have a (modern) Hulk Hogan, WCW era Macho Man, DDP, Four Horsemen, Yokozuna, Andre the Giant and just so many other characters are out there if you want them. Granted, Jakks made characters that Mattel hasn't (Abdullah the Butcher, Sabu, Sandman and Bruiser Brody come to mind) and Mattel has made characters Jakks hasn't (Macho Man, Sting was never part of the WWE line, etc.) but Mattel isn't done yet. The idea of having a Raven or Sabu in my collection is as much reason for me to collect as anticipating Austin Aries and Shinsuke Nakamura.
Again, I'm not saying that I buy *every* single Mattel figure ever made and I tend to stick to the modern characters and even then I don't go out of my way for the ones I don't like, but right now, Mattel has what I consider to be the most complete collection of wrestling figures available and it will only grow from here.
As for "catching up", since I got into the game late as well, my advice is this: Watch the secondhand market (the bays of the E) and look for good deals because they aren't always out there but they do come through once in a while. I've purchased maybe twenty five to thirty of the figures in my collection second hand to get guys I missed in stores like Matt Hardy (He was part of a group set for $4), Primo, Epico, Shawn Michaels, Trent?, Curt Hawkins and if he never comes back around again I might be hunting Carlito next. Just the other day though, I won a CM Punk figure at auction for $9.49 shipped, which was his last Elite figure that I passed on in stores because I thought he'd get another figure after it, a better one. But to not have CM Punk in with Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, Hideo Itami and eventually Austin Aries just didn't seem right, so I had to add him in and I just waited for what felt like the right price and the right time. So just build slowly and don't expect it to happen overnight and, yes, you too can have the most complete collection of wrestling figures one day.

Hi, I guess it depends on what your reasons. If you're a completist, then I would say no. Even if you just focused on Elites, there's a lot to catch up with. Add basics, battle packs, store exclusives and defining moments, and it's way too much.
Otherwise if you're just looking to build a fun collection, I think this is a pretty good time to get into it. A lot of great figures came out recently and a lot of the older legends are getting new figures on basic bodies. You can get Sting, Hogan, Hawk and Animal (battle pack) and ultimate Warrior figures for retail, or close to it. Plus there's a lot of NXT guys who have gotten figures in the last couple of months and some ex-TNA guys with figures coming soon.

I started almost two years ago. I would start with the figures you like. If you want to go back further, check online or local conventions where collectors might sell. I picked up numerous past figures for good prices.
Just know your limit.
