Trick answer.... I only collect one of each gimmick but I keep two collections at my house...one is mine moc, only my favorite characters in my favorite attire. If a new better one comes out rarely I'll sell the other. The other collection is loose for my sons toys.
Example: I have the big Bossman elite moc. I will wait to buy the corporate Bossman for my son.
The exception to this rule is macho man, I must have every one moc. Also I will be making an exception for any and all surfer stings except the GAB sting which I hate the attire.

HBK, Orton, Reigns, Jomo, Rollins, Triple H, Neville, Test, Rollins and Warrior are some of the best

I've thought about it but I'd rather quality over quantity, so if a new bad figure came out or a brilliant Reigns figure I'd buy the Reigns figure. I do aim to get atleast one of each guy/girl on the main roster and NXT with a few legends and flashbacks.

I get one of every different character Mattel produces. Thats the main rule. But i have several guys I'll buy mutiples of without hesitation. Flair,Hogan, Warrior, Savage ,Sting ,HBK, Taker,Punk, and Jericho make endless appearances on many different shelves. Edge,Mysterio,Bryan,Kane,HHH all have around 9 or so different attires/apperances throughout the display. Pretty much i "plan" on buying one of everybody (outside of legends/long time faves who will get multiples by design) but I wind up with three or more of EVERYONE before i know it. Imagine my terror when i realized that i somehow have a collection with 8 Miz figures in it.

just for space reasons I try to limit one of each but even then I'm pushing 60 figures - so I try to get their most iconic look and if it's bits and pieces from a number of versions of that figure, I'll combine it for that one iconic look.
If there's a huge gimmick change I'll usually pick the gimmick I liked most of that figure - like I like old-school Brock Lesnar rather than UFC-shorts Brock Lesnar, but the Road Warriors are the exception in my collection. I love their AWA/NWA look and their red LOD look, so I have both versions.

I tend to only get one of each, unless there is a drastic character change, or there is a first time in the line in a battle pack

yes, i try to keep it to 1 of each superstar. there are exceptions to the rule though. guys who have been around awhile (kane, hogan, hbk, taker etc) need more than 1 to cover their careers. I'm the same way, and its a good way to be. ![](https://media.giphy.com/media/9o67upvAnOqRy/giphy.gif)

Only collect one of each. But I have difficulty resisting. And have Elite 33 and Elite 37 Rollins. And now I have Batista Elite 30 and don´t know if I buy Batista Elite 33! I shouldn´t do, but Bluetista is great!

Sometimes I wish I had the self control to only buy one of each guy but Mattel out does themselves quite a bit in this line and you always want to upgrade a look or something.

I mostly do. I picked up the WM32 Elite Lesnar and it prompted me to trade my E37. I still like current era Lesnar, but first-run Lesnar was when I was introduced and the biggest fan. Now, if only I could find a better head..
The exception to the rule right now is Punk. I have E16 and E29. Thinking about trading E29 but I don't want to give up the hoodie. Probably end up being used for parts.
I find it helps from my collection getting too out of hand. If a guy gets an update, and I prefer the update (or that era), I'll get a new one and unload the old one.

I more or less fit in the "gimmick change" category. For example, I have E31 Ambrose, E33 Rollins, and E33 Reigns as the Shield, and then I have E36 Ambrose, Wrestlemania 31 Rollins, and E38 Reigns to represent their current runs as individual performers. If I see what I feel is an "upgrade", I will buy it and sell off the previous version.
