If they're going to mess up a Surfer Sting I'm glad it's USA Sting, because this is not how I remember him best.
This is a good point.
Very good point

Ok yes some of the pictures I've seen make the Stinger look like Johnny Bravo but I'm going to reserve judgement until I actually see the figure. Wouldn't be the first Sting figure that wasn't very photogenic but turned out to be pretty, pretty good in person.

I don't know how this is news. I thought the general consensus was that it wasn't worth the $25 price point?

Why did you buy it if you don't like it? You can't whine and bitch about something that you've bought, you chose it, you didn't have to

As a Sting fan I have to say there's no justifying this figure. I think the only thing going for this figure is the headsculpt and even then it's not that good. I hope Mattel is listening and corrects future surfer Stings. We know you have better body parts to make a Sting, so why not use it?

If they're going to mess up a Surfer Sting I'm glad it's USA Sting, because this is not how I remember him best. But it is his defining Surfer era look, and the most requested Sting from that era. For them to drop the ball this bad shows that they really don't give a crap about collectors.

I haven't seen one in person yet but from photos, it looks good MOC and with the jacket on.

Well you knew about the rubber jacket before you ordered it?
So much hate for these figures recently.

I don't think the figure deserves all this hate... sure, it's not perfect - but it's not that bad either. And figures always look better when you have them in-hand. I agree with those questioning whether it's worth the DM price though... would it have killed the budget to have included the Big Gold belt too? It would have looked great. As it is, it does seem as though it could have been a regular Flashback. Whatever though, I'll definitely be buying it - I LOVE the DM line and really want it to continue... and the more Mattel Sting figures we get, the better (6 in total, already!).

By the way, that jacket is an absolute pain to get off. I still like the figure a lot more in person though.

I didn't like surfer anywhere near as much as the crow gimmick. I only need one surfer and it will either be the DM or basic, the basic will save me more money plus I don't really need a patriotic figure but the articulation is better.

It's a 20$ plastic toy. Is this really the most you guys have to worry about?

I am with PJ, the scan/mouth is just trying to capture a very common expression he would do. I don't think it is bad. Probably could've been better, but I like it fine.
It's a $20 toy as stated above, I don't expect perfection.

As a total package, from a distance, it's not too bad. Close up. Doesn't look anything like him. Rubber jackets don't bother me cos I don't remove them but it looks cheap and rubbish compared to the great early cloth jackets. (Macho, HBK) The legs are skinny. The only good think is the little hair tuft!!!
