Ok so I went to TRU today this morning with my neice with no intention of buying any figures. Was gonna buy her some shopkins those are her favorite thing. But something told me to go to the WWE aisle and check out what they had. I see they got the usual stuff some shelfwarmers Daniel Bryans, and Reigns mixed with some Adam Rose. Like 4 IRS though.
But I saw a lady with her like 5 or 6 year old kid. He had a Cena figure in his hand it was the one that came with the WWE US belt and is recent. I took a look at it in his hand and noticed it didnt have the right belt in the package it was a plastic belt and the figure wasnt even an elite it was a basic with the legs scrunched in the package. I was just gonna walk away but then I realized the mom probably doesnt know anything about figures and is getting her kid the cena figure because he wants it and prob was first one he saw. She was gonna pay elite price for a basic cena without the right belt. So I went over and I basically just said mam that figure you are buying isnt the right one, its a basic figure someone just switched out for the right elite figure. I showed her some of the other elites and showed her the ab crunch and then told her the belts that come with elites are hard plastic and painted and not just some bland looking plastic. We looked around for another Cena elite figure but they didnt have any. I told her maybe they can ask someone that worked there to check the back but probably wont come back with anything. My neice wanted to be gone and open her stuff so we parted ways.
But to people who swap stuff out. Think about the little kid who doesnt know the difference or the mother or parent who is paying 20 dollars for a basic you stuck in an elite. If I didnt say anything the kid prob would have loved the figure anyway and only thing lost was ten bucks but still sometimes you just got to speak up.
