Eh. It's been more or less confirmed that that was Neville's spot, and general consensus was that they just didn't change the plan when he got substituted. The rest of the show was a massive downer, so they wanted the feel good moment to open the show, knowing that it was just going to Miz the following night.
Not to mention, the guys in that match don't strike me as having major clout with management to sway the booking of a match one way or another. If it wasn't already in the cards, I sincerely doubt any of those guys saying "we want Ryder to win" would've made Vince go, "you know what, you're right!"

I believe it, made a cool moment. non of the other guys in the match really need the title at this point anyway, so why not give the underdog who is still somewhat over the chance to have his own wrestlemania moment.

Even though the hot potato crap they did with the title annoyed me to no end, seeing Zack get his moment was one of the few genuinely good moments of WM.
If the story is actually true, which, I mean, seems a little closer to fiction than fact, than that's even cooler.

I was so happy for Ryder. A legit fan who finally had a great WM moment. It felt like watching one of my friends winning it.
That being said, I still kinda wish the Owens/Zayn feud still had the IC title involved.
