I recently received some loose mattel figures that I purchased online, and they smell of smoke from cigarettes. I can't stand the smell. How do you remove the smell from the figures?

Put them in a sealed zip lock bag with a couple scented dryer sheets for a week.

Put them in a sealed zip lock bag with a couple scented dryer sheets for a week. I don't have any scented dryer sheets and I don't want to go out and buy some but I will if I have to. Any other solutions? I've heard putting them in a bag with baking soda works. Any legitimacy to that statement?

Not sure as I don't buy second hand figures, but I have friends who have and swear to the dryer sheets. Haven't heard the baking soda technique before.

I have heard a bunch of methods.
I did the dryer sheets one and it works. There was one where I put a Jakks figure in soap and water for three days, and it came out.

listen to ME it's simple... Step 1. Get baking soda Step 2. Get a small box/container Step 3. Pour a good amount of baking soda inside the box/container Step 4. Put the addict smelling item in the box/container then cover it and leave it overnight ***If you want you can take a toilet paper roll insert and cut it in half to levitate the item so it won't have direct contact with the baking soda Then, BOOM smell is gone, trust me I've done this before it works like a charm One of baking sodas main uses is to eliminate order This is a quote from myself in another thread with a similar problem. I did this and it works 100% forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/330009/macho-king-helpHope this helped

LMFAO I figured that much, idk why people think a dryer sheet would ELIMINATE odor, does nothing but coat the smell

Will try this. Thank you. Does it matter if it's a box or will a plastic bag work as well? I wouldn't recommend a bag for the simple fact that the baking soda would get all over the figure. Just follow the steps and you'll be fine Also use a toilet paper tube, cut it in half and use that as levitation for the figure

I've only ever used the dryer sheet method, but I've heard some say baking soda works. Can't exactly tell you from experience though.

Believe it or not I can even smell smoke on figures if I get them from eBay or something. Dryer sheets works the best. If it's not hard for me to walk outside and smoke instead of near my dogs or collection why is it so hard for everyone else.

Those son of a b***h smokers, I should really quit smoking myself. But yeah, Power of the Warrior is correct. Baking soda will do the job nicely. But you probably should clean them, cigarette smoke does leave a nasty little film substance on stuff. That's why I smoke outside.
