And how is the jacket even far off? It wasn't even a cloth jacket when he wore it. The cloth fetish is boring. I completely understand for actual cloth stuff, like for t-shirts or similar but not clothing that wasn't even cloth to begin with

If he did say that, he is talking out of his rear end. How do we know that? Someone should go and find the interview because it made sense. I believe he said the tassels were too thin to do correctly, whereas the Macho Man's tassels were bigger. Here was Bill's reasoning... These are images of a pre-production sample. Most of our official images are from such samples, which are the last ones I review before they are finalized.Sometimes I am able to catch late errors before production, as with the Renee Young figure. The boots are being changed to be more accurate. The 1st run will be the laced boots. The rest of the run will be corrected boots. Jacket being molded was an aesthetic decision based on the facts 1) Sting's arm streamers were much thinner and more numerous than Macho Man's. If I used a SG jacket he would have streamers the same size as Macho Man's, which I did not want (they have to be a certain size to avoid choking hazards, no way around it). 2) I would also have lost the epaulets on the shoulders. If I would have produced a SG jacket with wide arm streamers and no shoulder epaulets I would have heard the feedback as well I am sure.

Thanks PJ for looking that up as I was just about to myself till I saw your post. Man, sometimes I feel sorry for Bill. He makes a decision to make it look more like the real one and people complain. People are going to complain regardless of what he does. Sorry Bill, I love your work and am just thankful to be getting decent flashback figures.

Man, sometimes I feel sorry for Bill. He makes a decision to make it look more like the real one and people complain. People are going to complain regardless of what he does. I disagree with that. There have been a lot figures that are perfect and I always give Mattel credit for something when they knock it out of the park like that. It just seems like that is happening less and less. I don't really care about the jacket issue. I tend to display these guys without their accessories anyways.

Because budget goes to those damn Barbie Dream houses and cloth is like 4 million Mattel Dollars towards the 2 dollar budget

I think theres been plenty of complaining so far. I dont think it hasnt been brought up enough, as you suggest. Every thread abput this figure is complaining. Lol. I bet Bill hates making sting figures at this point. E39 Sting catastrophy. GAB Sting. Now the green sting/box art (hilariously not good).

I have an idea, use the cloth version of the bash Sting jacket provided by Ralph's or Jakks, cut the bulky cloth collar off, and cut off and glue on the plastic collar and shoulder tassels on to the cloth one...I wonder how that would look. I'd like to see an attempt in the fix up thread of this idea. Based on this post and the amount of mattel bodies with jakks heads you have made, I feel like you love wrecking things

If it's so awful, why would you spend your money on it?

I kind of want the Defining Moments line to die. I can't justify $30 for one figure and have it come with clunky plastic as its sole accessory.

I'd like to see an attempt in the fix up thread of this idea. The Jakks jacket used for the RSC American Sting got the red and white stripes of the sleeve wrong. They should run the length of the arm (North/South) not across the arm.(East/West)

It's almost like Sting isn't a priority now that Starrcade 97 sting is out.
The rest have been awful figures.
