The guitar solo caught me by surprise. Haven't had solos like that in an RHCP song since Frusciante left. Josh is stepping up to the plate finally.

How about that album cover, though? Imo probably the best since Californication.
The song is ok. They need some funk in the worst way. But then again....no Frusciante. Maybe this is just their new direction and they are sticking with it. I guess.
This just turned into a play Chili Peppers all day-day.

The Frus is not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need. I miss his How Deep Is Your Love/Tiny Dancer covers

I can dig it, I already like it more than any song from the last album. Chad kept that hi-hat going steady throughout almost the entire song, what a beast.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have been phoning it in for years, but this actually sounds like they made an effort. Still, I wish they'd bring back their funky sound.

Great ... now the song is blocked in Germany for some copyright bullcrap.

I'm not a hardcore Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, but I really like this song.

I really like it!
The thing is, the Chilis won't sound Frusciante-like because he isn't and won't be playing with them. It's tough but we all have to live with it. Now, if they wouldn't have had God as guitarist before Josh Klinghoffer, maybe most people wouldn't complain as much. Josh is also a VERY talented musician, not to forget that he is good friends with John and that John actually suggested him as his replacement! I like how this song sounds like Josh had some influence in the writing. The last record came off like they were trying to keep the sound they had with John but couldn't really do it, so Josh seemed like an inferior version of John. If you listen to Josh's other bands, Warpaint and Dot Hacker, you will see how he is a gifted indivdual as well.
IMO the right approach to the whole Frusciante/Klinghoffer or old Chilid/new Chilis is more like a 'different' than 'better/worse' relation. This song sounds different than some of their old stuff, because it's a different guy playing and writing on it. And I think they are shifting in the right direction if the rest of the album is in a similar style than this.

Sounds a lot like Stadium Arcadium and its B-sides
I like it, not a big fan of the piano, but its ok. Sounds better than that last album....jeesh.

If this is one of the best off the album, I won't be getting this one.

Eh. Don't care for it.
I wish they had made more music with Dave Navarro. I loved that darker style they had on One Hot Minute.

I just discovered this on a Touch Tunes machine today! It's not my favorite RHCP song ever but it's okay.

just ain't the same since frusciante left. better to burn out then fade away i suppose. unless you count his solo stuff...which has just become totally bizarre. and not bizarre in an intriguing way like his first few albums.

In a interview yesterday I was 95% convinced Frusciante has lost his mind. He basically crapped on all music except for electronic stuff. And he just seems to get odder and odder in the recent interviews, guess that divorce is driving him crazy.
