Seriously, about to blow y'alls minds. I want you to think long and hard about this, because without the correct answer, we may never know the meaning of life...
Is Predator more of an action film, or sci-fi flick?
AND
Is Alien more of a Sci-fi flick, or horror?
Interested to see people's take away on this one...

If you made me choose, I would put Predator as action and Alien as Sci-Fi. However I don't see why a movie can't be a blend of both, which both are. Just like romantic comedies.

I would say that Predator is Sci fi.
Alien has always been a horror movie to me. Dat chestburster scene.

Movies can be more than one genre.

I'm not saying movies can't be more than one genre. I'm not saying either movie should be defined as one or the other. I'm simply asking an opinion and how people see certain aspects of a movie and the impression it leaves on them.
That's not the point. I'm curious to how an audience sees something. Where the psychology lies in what they see. The connections they make, etc.

Predator is an action movie with science fiction elements, adhering more to action film tropes just as Alien is ostensibly a horror/thriller film with science fiction elements, and adhering to horror/thriller tropes.

I agree with both TheLastDude and TRW. Perfect answers. I love botg movies and have always though they blended their respective genres perfectly. Love them both.

Predator if 1 genre classified would have to be an action movie. It takes place in current times (at the time) with a sci-fi element added.
Alien would be a sci-fi movie. It takes place in the future & in space with an alien creature. IMO anything that takes place in the future is a sci-fi film. The thing about Sci-Fi is that something can't just be a sci-fi movie, it needs to either have a dramatic/comedic/action/thriller/horror plot. So in actuality I'm not sure why it's even it's own genre.

Alien from 1979 is a slasher film in space, its horror.
Predator is an action film.
They both have Sci-Fi elements, but that's not their drive or focus.
