Does Matty care if it sells well at the show itself? They sell everything on their site afterwards.
Some guesses:
Asuka - Her deco's tough and including the robe and mask might be unrealistic for a mass-market Elite. Could be a good place for her first figure to make future releases of her a bit easier to pull off.
Finn - With an alternate demon deco from a Takeover event.
Gooker/Shockmaster - Both have cult fame even among non-fans and are unlikely for a mass release.
Liger - Maybe they could pull off a deal if it's an event exclusive.
Savage/Sting/Taker/Warrior - They have a million different looks and they're all well-known.

SDCC exclusives make legitimately NO sense. Whatsoever. Alot of collectors enjoy "the chase" and some like to say the own a very rare figure. SDCC Taker and Tully Blanchard were both in that bracket of Bragging Rights for figures until they were re-released. I always look forward to any Con exclusive. Neca kills it every year, and we get a sweet Newt this year. A key character! The main reason why companies fo exclusives, is because they are nearky 100% guaranteed to sell out at the shows. Those that don't go to their online stock where they tend to sell out to non-attendies. Many collectors complained about figure hunting being too easy. Its hard to beleive, but its true. In a sea of toys, its fun to say "I have the hatd to find _______ figure!"

Keep in mind WM15 Taker didn't sell for a reason. The crowds at SDCC aren't really hardcore wrestling fans. Not saying there aren't fans there. Their panels always seem to filled to capacity. But to really attract the typical SDCC attendee or toy collector it has to be unique and special to the event. It has to be 1. Someone everybody knows and 2. Something that crosses over to other areas of pop culture. Joker Sting would be perfect. Mattel has the DC license so that wouldn't be an issue. Only problem would be since he only appeared in this makeup in TNA they may not be able to. As someone who writes about comics and attends cons as part of his job, I can tell you that's changed a lot in recent years. Wrestling figures have become a huge staple at cons of all sizes, and bigger shows have a lot of wrestling cosplay and guests. Depending on the number produced, I think this year's SDCC exclusive has a chance of selling out. Anyway, my bet is on a surfer Sting variant.

No, but he was an Exclusive, and at one time a very rare one intil the 4 pack and Yoko's HOF release.
