As others have said, the Submission System is good in concept, but the execution isn't good. If I have a guy's head on red in a Sleeper Hold (etc), it should be easier for me to tap them out than it should be for them to escape. I also think adding a KO feature to submissions (after a very high amount of damage) would be a cool feature.

I honestly liked the Breaking Point submissions better. But I mostly play against the CPU and the CPU is WAY too good at the new system.
Breaking Point juat felt better to me. I don't hate the new system but the AI is too good at it for sure. I haven't won a single match by submission, luckily I'm pretty good at getting out of them now.

Seriously all you have to do with the submissions is trap the opponent on one side (I have it at the top and I'm on the bottom) and go back and forth that's it. Don't spin the damn thing around chasing your opponent. I havent lost a match by submitting ever.

One thing I've thinking about ever since the brand split was announced to return is for GM Mode to return. I used to love the mode back in the day. I honestly did not see the point of the mode when the brand split ended. Now that it's coming back, I would love for the mode to return. For GM Mode, I would mix certain elements of Universe Mode and certain elements of Story Designer. I would keep the 20 superstar limit to the brands. I would include an option to where before we draft wrestlers, we could choose whether to keep the default champions or pick your own champions in the brand. Now, the element I would keep from Universe Mode, is the editing portion. I would add a feature where you could edit before you begin the drafting process. You could edit the shows, the championships used, the wrestlers involved, etc. Example, let's say instead of RAW vs. Smackdown, you want RAW vs. NXT, or even WWE vs. WCW? With the editing feature, you could edit any show to the way you want to play it. Now obviously the part of story designer I would add to GM Mode is the segments. Promos, in ring segments, backstage segments, all added to GM Mode. I would keep the rest the same.
Another mode I would fix is MyCareer Mode. I would keep starting at NXT. However, in stead of then going on Superstars, Main Event, our guy would continue to do house shows. I think it was WWF Attitude where you begin doing house shows before going on Heat and then RAW. I personally think that's a little better. Also, I remember liking the calendar used on 24/7 Mode (I am not talking about the dumb storylines on 24/7 Mode, I'm talking about the calendar where you could pick a certain activity to do everyday. I feel like I have to say that everytime I mention 24/7 Mode from SvR 2008 lol) on SvR 2008 when I played as a GM. I would add that to MyCareer Mode, where every day you could do a certain activity. You could head to the Performance Center to train and gain exp. points to grow your wrestler, or you do an activity to grow your popularity, like do autograph signings, radio interviews, etc.
I would like what I said on MyCareer Mode to happen for 2K17. The GM Mode, that will obviously have to wait a couple of games after, if they ever plan to bring it back.

The return of GM Mode with new features is like a wet dream. Also bring back Create a Story. Universe is just beyond terrible. There's just so many limitations you might as well play exhibition. Feuds just being the same singles match every week with the odd different singles match with interference is about as simplistic of an interpretation of actual feuds as is possible. Even integrating elements of Create a Story and GM Mode into Universe would be far better. There's just no depth, no options, and you're always playing regular singles or tags and hitting the same 5 cut scenes. It's just boring as hell, but they've barely touched it since it was introduced. There must be more that they can do with it, right? I mean, it can't be that difficult to make it a long-term enjoyable mode, can it? Does it really need to be so cut and dry to function?
I had an idea that they should just make universe the main mode of the game. Focus on customizability, lots of options, focus on user centered control, allow for customisation of all aspects of the show, provide a budget, hire talent, announcers, interviewers, everyone down to ring crew. Ancillary staff all have their positives and negatives (boosts in budgets in exchange for fewer options as a very crude example). Choose a NPC as GM, anyone from Renee Young to Bobby Heenan, to Vince himself. Allow the option to assign managers (I hate having to exit the mode to customize only to add Bearer to Taker, Heyman to Brock, or Jimmy Hart to Earthquake). Allow managers to be ringside for title matches, an added advantage/challenge. Allow for limited interaction between shows. Even though I couldn't see it, I used to love sending someone to the other show to cause trouble for a little boost. Advertising revenue, pre-written branching stories with their own cutscenes, bring back interference, bring back match creator. These are just a few ideas, I'd gladly give up My Career altogether for a good Universe. Or give us the option to create our own stories again. I loved all the options. Universe as it is has no depth whatsoever. At least in 2K14 we had a ton of fun match types to break up the monotony.

GM mode would be so much fun. Especially if they somehow did it where you could have it online with a friend, doing trades and what not.

I'm serious! I like it because it's like the Pin System. After a reasonable point, chances are you'll tap out, but you always have a chance to get out of a submission, in the same way that you can press X at the right time in the small hotspot with the Pin system after several finishers. Also, it's not really hard to escape non-Finisher/Signature Submissions so no matches ending via Abdominal Stretch from the A.I. The button mashing sucked because Submission moves never lasted long. The new system it can go back and forth for like 20 seconds. It's the best. Or you tap out to an armbar 2 minutes into a match because the sliding circle thing is awful design. Yes! Every damn time the CPU locks in a submission!

"Oh, I see Heath Slater, King of Submissions, has done no damage to your leg. Let's have you tap out to an out of nowhere Boston Crab." Ridiculous.

I still don't get the problem with the submission system.. like, you just have to move the stick in the opposite direction, and when it turns to run back to you, you go the other way. Save your stamina so you can boost of you're in a tight spot.
I figured it out after a day or two, and just a few days ago I escaped a Walls of Jericho from being in the red. This is much better than the old way, where it is impossible to get a submission if you're opponent isn't in the red, and if you're in the red it is literally impossible to escape. At least now there is a chance to pull a quick one, and a chance to actually escape when you get put in a submission after a long match.

Oh sure in theory if you've got any skill with the bars escaping for sure match ending submission finishers is easier in this game than with the Breaking Point system because you have a chance albeit slim. But it's still nearly impossible and you can just as easily tap out at the very beginning of a match because the bars are so freaking screwy. I guess you're either good at it or terrible at it. No middle ground there.

So, with the recent Lesnar news, I've been thinking that it's very likely that he's the cover star based on the Suplex City teaser in the trailer. Like Austin, he'll have his own showcase which is why Goldberg made the roster, so we could recreate that crappy WrestleMania XX match again and No Way Out 2004 where he helped Eddie defeat Brock. It's also really easy to predict what matches they'll include if 2K was able to sign Kurt Angle:
vs Rob Van Dam - King of the Ring 2002 vs The Rock - SummerSlam 2002 vs Undertaker - No Mercy 2002 Royal Rumble Match - Royal Rumble 2003 vs Kurt Angle - WrestleMania XIX vs John Cena - Backlash 2003 vs Big Show - Judgment Day 2003 vs Kurt Angle & Big Show - Vengeance 2003 vs Kurt Angle - SummerSlam 2003 vs Kurt Angle - Smackdown! 9/18/03 vs Undertaker - No Mercy 2003 vs Eddie Guerrero - No Way Out 2004 vs Goldberg - WrestleMania XX vs John Cena - Extreme Rules 2012 vs Triple H - SummerSlam 2012 vs Triple H - WrestleMania 29 vs Triple H - Extreme Rules 2013 vs Big Show - Royal Rumble 2014 vs Undertaker - WrestleMania XXX vs John Cena - SummerSlam 2014 vs John Cena - Night of Champions 2014 vs John Cena & Seth Rollins - Royal Rumble 2015 vs Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins - WrestleMania 31 vs Kofi Kingston - Beast in the East vs Seth Rollins - Battleground 2015 vs Undertaker - SummerSlam 2015 vs Undertaker - Hell in a Cell 2015 vs Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose - Fastlane 2016 vs Dean Ambrose - WrestleMania 32
