SMACKDOWN
Announcers: Mean Gene Okerlund, Jerry “The King” Lawler, & Booker T
Smackdown opens with Vince McMahon on stage. Vince says that after Shane’s assault on Monday and Paul Heyman leaving town, he is putting faith tonight in his daughter Stephanie. The Billion Dollar Princess joins her dad on the stage and Thanks him. As Vince leaves, Stephanie announces that a punishment will be given out to Randy Orton this week on Raw. Stephanie says now it is time to kick off Smackdown with an exciting championship match.
Dolph Ziggler def. Alberto Del Rio (w/ Primo) with a Superkick to retain the Intercontinetal Championship. Dolph asked for this match after Del Rio interrupted his interview on Raw. Golden Truth came down to ringside causing both Primo & Del Rio to be distracted, which ultimately cost Del Rio this match.
Backstage: New Day is hanging out in the back of the arena when United States Champion Rusev and Lana are seen leaving the building. Big E says, “Look WWE Universe Beauty and The Beast are leaving Smackdown.” “But Why?” “Why?” asks Woods and Kingston. “Because unlike Dolph Ziggler, Rusev is not a fighting champion,” says Big E. Rusev confronts E. “I do not care to defend my title in front of these people.” Lana tells New Day that they are not real men like Rusev. She then states that they will probably lose to the Dudleyz at Money In The Bank. Big E states that Kofi & Woods will be taking on the Dudleyz at Money in The Bank, but he is yet to have an opponent. An aggravated Rusev demands that if Big E wants a title shot, he should have to defeat a former US Champion here tonight on Smackdown. Rusev & Lana then storm out of the back of the building.
Eva Marie def. Natalya with a Crossface submission. Eva gets on the mic after the match and challenges Paige to a match at Money In The Bank. Stephanie returns to the stage saying that Paige could not be here tonight, but she will defend her title against Eva at Money In The Bank.
Backstage: Rosa Mendes is interviewing Chris Jericho. Rosa states that we are moments away from 2 Money In The Bank Competitors facing off as it is Jericho and Reigns one-on-one. Jericho says that, “I used to respect Stephanie McMahon, but I don’t anymore. How dare her do this to me. I was just told that tonight’s main event is John Cena vs. Sheamus in a first time ever matchup (in my federation). Rosa, I beat John Cena fair and square in the middle of that ring on Raw, and yet Cena is in the main event? This company is going down the tubes, Rosa. Now I know why Brock Lesnar left town and is going back to the octagon. Tonight, I am going to do to Roman exactly what I did to Cena on Raw. Pin him 1-2-3 in the middle of that ring.”
With the Money In The Bank briefcase hanging in the air, Roman Reigns (w/ Dean Ambrose) def. Chris Jericho with a Spear. After the match Ambrose pulled a ladder out from under the ring, tossed it in, set it up then began climbing up the ladder. Roman climbed up the other side of the ladder as he and his tag partner had a stare down atop the ladder with the briefcase hanging above them as we cut to commercial.
As Smackdown returns from break, NXT GM William Regal is in the ring with a huge announcement. Regal announces that for the first time ever, 8 of NXT best stars will compete in a Money In The Bank Ladder Match with the right to get a future NXT Title opportunity. Regal announces Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Kalisto, Sin Cara, Darren Young, Finn Balor & Luke Gallows as the match participants for the PPV.
Big E def. The Miz with a Big Ending to earn a match against United States Champion Rusev at Money In The Bank.
Main Event: With the Money In The Bank briefcase hanging in the air, and ladders surrounding ringside, John Cena def. Sheamus with an AA. After the match, the Demon Kane came out, grabbed a ladder and charged Cena who dropkicked the ladder held by Kane. Jericho then somehow came in from behind and then cheap shotted Cena. Reigns & Ambrose ran out as Y2J ran through the crowd. NXT Champion Tyler Breeze joined the fray until being hit with a Superman Punch. Ziggler ran out and began brawling with Breeze outside the ring as the tag team champions stood tall in the ring to end the show.
