So this happened last night at EVOLVE 62: This one was a pretty wild brawl that came to an end when Chris Hero interfered with piledrivers on Gargano and TJP. Galloway hit a tombstone and EC3 hit the One Percenter on TJP for the pin. Afterwards, Galloway said what a coincidence because Evolve needs heroes. Galloway said he and EC3 have set out to show that you don’t need to jump on board with “the machine.” They said that alongside Chris Hero, nobody can stop their independent movement. They announced that Cody Rhodes is also amongst their ranks, and on August 19 in Baltimore, Cody is gunning for Gargano. EC3 closed the show by saying that he started a war with his words, and they’re trying to censor him tonight. But he said he’s going to bring the controversy anyway, and proceeded to briefly plug TNA Slammiversary for this Sunday. The crowd booed. EC3 and Galloway left before the crew tended to the guys down in the ring to end the show. He is legit running a TNA/Indies vs. WWE/NXT/Indies feud. ECIII/Galloway/Hero/Rhodes vs any combo of Catch Point/Gargano/Ciampa/Page just sounds awesome to me. I'm loving that Cody is joining this angle immediately. Gabe is just doing everything right with this angle. I really don't know why it isn't getting more attention then it is. Hero and Rhodes joining ECIII and Galloway is just gold. It makes perfect sense.

And not one casual WWE fan that only watches WWE television cares one bit!!
They can run as many cool angles as they want in that promotion, but it won't transfer over to a greater audience. I didn't even know about this until right now when reading it, and I watch stuff besides WWE.
If this was happening in NXT, it would be greater appreciated. And it could, with how NXT has so many former TNA talents.

I had no idea that the NWO was even formed back in 1996. No idea at all. I was not interested in what WCW was doing at the time as I have always been a McMahon loyalist.
AAA wrestling organizations can run great angles all they want. I will still have no idea unless it happens in the WWE-

However, I wasn't really impressed last time I watched it. Drew Galloway irritates the hell out of me, and even now I can't see him as anything more than a comedy act.

It is pretty great so far. Gabe, though he has flaws, is among my favorite bookers. Hell, Evolve is easily the best booked wrestling promotion around right now.

I was hoping you were on the same page as I am with this angle. I thought this thread would go over a little better on here. Why the hell do so many of you sound so bitter anymore? Why can't we just enjoy things instead of crapping on it?

Sounds promising. I've never watched Evolve, but I may have to try.

EVOLVE have been consistently doing great stuff for a long time now. Guys like Sabre, Yehi, Perkins, Konley, Thatcher (though his 2016 has been less than stellar) and Gargano are all super talented and great guys to build a company around. I'd say they're probably my third favourite indie, ahead of ROH but behind Dragon Gate and PWG.

Sounds promising. I've never watched Evolve, but I may have to try. It's really damn good atm. It's easy to see why NXT is using EVOLVE as a feeder system. Combine the fantastic roster they have with Gabe's booking and you've got one hell of a show. The combo of up and comers and Vets/Guys that have been to the WWE is perfect. Guys like Galloway, Hero and ECIII bring guys to a new level while also making themselves better wrestlers. Drew Galloway has become one of the most complete workers in the world since coming to the indies, he looks and acts like a god damn star. These guys all look great while Gabe continues to build Gulak,Thatcher, Page, Riddle, etc. Its just a damn near perfect combination.

Also, though I'm not big on Gulak, Catch Point is my second favorite stable in wrestling behind Los Ingobernables de Japon.

Is Kevin Dunn or Dixie Carter the heel in this feud, or are they not going for a babyface/heel thing?

I haven't seen this, but it sounds awesome to me. I've been on the Drew bandwagon since they started saddling him with garbage in WWE. We actually had a nice conversation about it at Wrestlecon last year in what was one of the highlights of an already amazing weekend. I'm glad that he's finally doing exactly what i knew he could. ECIII, same thing. I didn't see it when he was Bateman, but it didn't take long into the ECIII run for me to see that the WWE have some serious issues with tunnel vision and walking right past shimmering gold. My thoughts on Cody Rhodes are well documented, so this sounds like must see wrestling. It may not bring in any new fans for the promotion, but it will solidify these guys to the point that in five years Vince says 'who is this Galloway/Carter/Rhodes kid and why doesn't he already work here?' I said and still honestly believe that these are the next big stars in wrestling, and they're going to show WWE what they are capable of and why they were wrong not to believe in them. This is a huge first step.

Also, though I'm not big on Gulak, Catch Point is my second favorite stable in wrestling behind Los Ingobernables de Japon. I'm genuinely surprised you're not high on Gulak. He's legit my favorite technical wrestler not named Chris Hero. The matches between Gulak/Busick/Thatcher really made me a fan of all three guys. Plus I'm extremely biased as I've watched literally 90% of his career and he's a philly kid like me lol. Gulak/O'Reilly is still one of my legitimate favorite matches ever. They have amazing chemistry.

Is Kevin Dunn or Dixie Carter the heel in this feud, or are they not going for a babyface/heel thing? Galloway/ECIII/Hero/Rhodes are the heels. The companies aren't really the focal points of the feud. Basically the above group is making a point of doing their thing/taking over without any kind of WWE/NXT/EVOLVE backing, while the babyfaces in the feud Gargano/Catch Point/Page are guys that have associations to the WWE. For example, Gargano is in NXT, TJP/Gulak are in the CWC, etc. The whole thing is really interesting and the storytelling has been great so far, even though it has only been running for two shows I believe.

But like I said, the casual fan won't be watching it, thus it won't live up to the potential it should have. I already watch Raw, Smackdown, NXT, ROH, TNA, and Paragon Pro Wrestling. I watch them because they are on my TV. If Evolve had a weekly TV show I would probably watch it too. But I am not gonna try to find it online to stream, download, or buy it just to watch more wrestling. I watch too much during the week as it is already.

Hope you don't think it was directed at you or anyone else specific.

It is great; I'm always impressed with Evolve and have been since 2010. The 'promotion warfare' aspect right now is very cool, and I wish them well with it, especially Gabe, who is my favourite booker.
He's inspired my own booking for my writing endeavours here, amongst tons of other influences.
