Now don't get me wrong, the cartoons today are nowhere near on the level of ones like Kablam, Angry Beavers, Dexters Lab, etc. But they're nowhere near as bad as people make them out to be. I recently started watching Teen Titans Go, The Regular Show, and Adventure Time and I think they're great! Especially Teen Titans Go, the Robin character cracks me up so much. I think people are just stuck in the past and don't give new cartoons a chance or even watch a few episodes to judge. If you haven't seen either of the 3 shows, I'd check them out!

Teen Titans Go is a show I cannot stand. I just don't like the cute, childish characters but if there is one good thing about that show, it would be Robin. I've cracked up with some of the stuff he's said. Regular Show is funny and unique and I love all the characters. Same thing with Adventure Time, that show was my favorite show when I watched it all the time. I think my absolute favorite current Cartoon Network show is The Amazing World of Gumball. It's silly, but in a good way, and I am never bored watching an episode.

My problem is i feel like animation has gone backwards? Things seem poorly drawn/animated in these shows, only show i like these days is the Regular show i think

I remember when Saturday mornings were all I cared about. Scooby Doo, The Superfriends, Bugs Bunny, Thundarr the Barbarian, Wacky Racers, etc.
But you knew it was over at noon, because that's when Soul Train would come on.

NuPPG is pretty good for a reboot
it's funny how even NuPPG hates TTG
personally to me, these are the shows I like atm: NuPPG Steven Universe (these hiatuses are getting annoying tho) Regular Show (Rigby is literally me)

I haven't watched any in years but I made a similar thread around the time I joined WF. There are some that I personally don't like but are huge like Regular Show and Adventure Time that at least have promise. Then there's stuff like Uncle Grandpa that makes me want to rip my eyes out.

I really like TTG, the current iteration of Turtles is pretty swell from what I've seen of it, too.

Would rather watch Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Rick and Morty, the earlier seasons of Adventure Time and Regular Show than 80% of the cartoons from my childhood.

Im not a fan of modern cartoons but I did enjoy Star Wars The Clone Wars and have yet to watch Rebels but it looks cool.
The Thundercats remake was great but got cancelled which I never understood.

As someone who consistently watches stuff like X-Men and Batman, TMNT, Thundercats and MOTU still... Yeah. The only new show I watch is the Nick Turtles. It's not bad, but it's not the original show either.
My niece and nephew are 9 and 7 and the stuff they watch is mind numbingly terrible. Like most of it is special ed pencil drawing bullsh*t. Any time I show my nephew older stuff it's like he's hypnotized like Neo seeing the Matrix for the first time.
People can yell nostalgia and say whatever they want. Those people are wrong imo. Cartoons had a golden age and it died in the back half of the 90s and hasn't ever recovered.
Edit: I just remembered I watch Star Wars Rebels. That and Clone Wars have had a good run. I'm not the biggest fan of the 3D animation style but the content is at least good. Still doesn't rank in my top favorite animated shows though.

I don't like a lot of cartoons on cartoon network. I love Rick and Morty, still watch the Simpsons, Family guy and SouthPark but I do find myself watching a lot of older shows from my childhood. My go to nostalgic show isthe original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I grew up on GI Joe, MOTU, Transformers and Saturday morning cartoons. After that it all went downhill for me. There was some stuff on Adult Swim that I enjoyed for awhile. The only newer ones I do like are Rebels and Bob's Burgers, sometimes South Park.

I don't really feel like I can properly comment on the state of current cartoons since there's barely any I'm keeping up with but I'll give my two cents anyway. There's plenty of great cartoons 'airing' nowadays. On the adult side of the spectrum (though this thread seems more tailored to kid-orientated programs but whatever), there's stuff like BoJack Horseman, F is for Family, Bob's Burgers, and Rick & Morty. Rick & Morty is one of the most creative series you'll ever find, that makes perfect use of it's visual medium to portray some pretty out there designs or to deliver on a crazy concept properly. Granted it can falter a bit when it goes for emotion but the off-kilter humor & it's moments of brilliance more than makes up for it. But to get on the kid side of things (though a ton cartoons are made with an older audience in mind as well) there's still plenty to like. My favorite being Steven Universe. I don't think I've ever seen a western animated show grasp how to make symbolism & parallelism as effectively as Steven Universe does during it's brightest moments. The show had a lot of thought crafted into it & has some of the most nuanced characterization I've seen over here. I tend to prefer shows that highlight characters, emotions & themes over plot beats & actions, and Steven Universe is one of the defining examples of show that does just that. Moving on from Steven Universe, lest we forget that Samurai Jack will be returning to us this year, still helmed by Genndy Tartakovsky, who behind Bruce Timm & [probably] Paul Dini, is my favorite creator over here. That all said, there is of course plenty of bad shows. From what I saw of Uncle Grandpa (which is essentially just the cross-over with Steven Universe), it's horrendous. Teen Titans Go! is abysmal except for the 80's inspired song they made (Night Begins to Shine I believe). & there are even worse shows I haven't sampled out there from what I hear, like Breadwinners but it's easy enough to avoid those. Oh & on the adult side of the spectrum, every-time I catch a newer Family Guy or Simpsons it's been pretty awful. So yeah, there's at least one gem (pun very much intended) with Steven Universe & another one sure to come along with Jack. I hear good things about Adventure Time but I don't watch it so meh. There are plenty of great shows in the past that I still hold in high regard of course, Batman: The Animated Series was chock-full of masterpieces, Batman Beyond's first two seasons are incredible, Invader Zim is still hilarious, Avatar: The Last Airbender is a classic, Futurama managed to strike the perfect balance of heart-wrenching & hilarious more times than I can count, Sym-bionic Titan had several highlights of utter brilliance, Spectacular Spider-Man still captured the essence of the character best, etc. I guess my point is, there are great shows in every era or something? Steven Universe (these hiatuses are getting annoying tho) Good news, the entirety of season 3 will be airing for like a month starting July 18th.

Rick and Morty is not just my favorite cartoon, but my favorite show. The show's humor and art is great, and one of the best adult animated shows on Right now.
