Ball joint hips make it so you cant swap legs as easy as a head. The old style are stuck in the crotch piece and have to be cracked to swap the full leg. The old style also seems to break easier as the ratchet gets stuck. Nee legs and forearms cant be swapped like they used to. They might be compatible with each other, but not the normal style. They probably did all this because Mattel was tired of seeing people make better custom figures than what they are releasing. Omg This is laughable lmao They probably did it to ensure the figures dont come apart as easy. You know, all the threads of people complaining of loose parts. Jeepers

I first heard of it from @early Cuyler and it's going to kill the fix-up game. I wonder why they decided to use the new molds.

Yeah B64 Braun Strowman has the new legs. They are hollow just like the upper body. The figure is awesome but its super lightweight and feels really really cheap...

Figs look better without holes in the joints

Figs look better without holes in the joints But is terrible so far for what would be a simple calf or forearm swap. Im not the mindset that thinks theyre intentionally screwing fix ups, but it does suck. I wanted to make b63 Sid into 1990 WCW Lex Luger. Body is perfect except Sid is 7' and Lex is like 6'4. Couldnt swap calves, so now I have medium boots with tall/wide calves. Edit: here is Vinces arm. I had to cut the peg in the forearm to get the elbow joint out. I loved how Mattel WWE Elites and basics have been so compatible. This is a paradigm shift I dont care for.

They don't swivel so I have to assume it was a cost cutting measure.

Ooooh.... This doesn't sound good.... Elites and basics have always been hand in hand for arms... I feel like it only makes sense to a big corporation like Mattel to go with the cheaper arms

If this is just for basics, then I don't get the issue here. To me basics are meant to be most played with and disposable to an extent. That's why I let my 2yo son play with them and that's what I mostly get him. If they break oops oh well no biggie they are just 10 bucks.
Yeah I guess it would suck for customs, I do customs too but it doesn't bother me.
Now if this were elites than I can agree that it would suck, but has there been any elite released yet with these changes? I haven't seen any.

If it's just for basics then it's not a big deal to me. I doubt they will do this for the elite line. Hopefully they wont.

I don't know about you guys, but these are the types of questions we should be posing in Mattel Q & A rather than "will AJ Styles get a figure?"

We always hear that new molds/tooling are expensive. I don't believe they'd have bothered to make these if there wasn't some kind of long term cost savings to them, considering the extensive catalogue of arms they already have. Maybe it's easier on the assembly side for them, hard to say. If this is the direction going forward I can't say it's exciting for those of us who like the ability to do easy fixups when the wrong parts choices are made by mattel. *I really liked the E43 KO figure after a simple bicep swap, if I couldn't have easily fixed it I may have passed, because it looked ridiculous as it came.
