When my schedule didn't allow me to watch it live, of course I watch via DVR. But now that my schedule will allow me to watch it live, I do, but with a twist. I will have my iPad Pro setup in front of me watching something else like something on the network in between RAW matches and segments. So basically, anytime Michael Cole is reminding us of what just happened 2 seconds ago, it's muted. I keep RAW muted until each superstar is in the ring, and as soon as the bell rings, I mute it again. I turn the volume back up when another match and/or segment begins. In other words, I minimize having to listen to Michael Cole's constant history lesson as much as possible. As far as SmackDown, that's usually a DVR watch on Fridays since they care so little about it and basically use it to recap RAW, so I ffwd through the non-match/segment stuff, although I do enjoy SmackDown's commentary team over RAW's.

DVR all the way. Fastforward through all of the people, matches, and recaps I could care less about. Most of the time I fast forward through a 3rd to half of Raw. Fast forward though half to 3/4ths of Smackdown. Don't have the want or time to sit through 5 hours a week of it. I remember fastforwarding through a lot of Impact when I actually had the channel to watch it.
