First, I'm a big fan of Finn. Very glad for his success tonight. But doesn't Roman's "bulletproof" vest seem like it would be the perfect counter to Finn's Coup De Grase?

It's wrestling. I mean, people actually tapped out to the Torture Rack.

Have they ever established any sort of narrative that Roman was impervious to damage to the midsection/chest because of the vest?
If not (I don't recall), I don't see any sort of issue.
I feel like a 190ish pound dude crashing into your chest feet first is going to knock the wind out of you, the same way a bullet would wearing a vest. Not as severely, of course, but you get the point.
There have been far more egregious offenses in wrestling.

You make a good point, especially after he kicked out of the code breaker in the fatal four way earlier in the night.
But, this is wrestling. An art form that you should never apply logic to lol.

So it's like understanding woman? You use logic and you get even more confused. You just have to sit back and enjoy It and ignore some aspects

It's not a bulletproof vest. It's a modified tactical vest. There's no Kevlar in what Roman wears. It offers no more protection than a sweater does.

I always thought Roman wore a baseball back catcher's vest.
Maybe he was hoping to get in a quick game of baseball before he wrestled??

Logic is a word Vince McMahon has never heard of.

I think if I was to believe Roman was wearing his vest in a real fight. The vest offers protection from strikes because of the padding it has. But wouldn't really help if someone jumped on his torso from a height similar to Finn's move because that would still be more of a crushing move. Meaning he would still feel the weight crushing down on him.

This is why I can't watch wrestling anymore. I have fallen into that "That is so clearly fake." mindset :/ Same thing with the opponent just laying there waiting. "Oh this guy is about to try and crush my ribcage? I'll lay here and wait for him to slowly climb up the turnbuckle." I miss the days when I could enjoy wrestling.

Doesn't really matter what you're wearing. Someone landing full force on your chest from eight or so feet in the air is going to hurt.

Bullet proof vests are not magic vests that absorb pain. It stops you from dying. You and your ribs are still going to feel 200 pounds coming down on you, pressing kevlar and steel into your chest at a high rate.

If we were really going to apply logic, vest or not, Finn's move would likely kill Roman. Probably break his sternum causing some sever complications.

Didn't really think about it that way lol Haha I had the exact same thought after reading op. On a side note, anyone wanna hazard how long it's going be before the coup de grace gets banned by Vince ala Rollins' curb stomp?

"Oh this guy is about to try and crush my ribcage? I'll lay here and wait for him to slowly climb up the turnbuckle." I miss the days when I could enjoy wrestling. The setup for Orton's DDT off the middle rope and ADR's corner stomp thing are far worse. You could argue that Taker's ropewalk thing was a little goofy, but it didn't require his opponent to position himself correctly for a move. My thought on Roman's chest padding is that, maybe they could kayfabe claim it's super heavy and would therefore do more damage to his person when a guy's body weight comes crashing down on it.

I think the curb stomp was banned more for the name of the move than the actual move. Don't quote me on that though lol
