That teaser did absolutely nothing for me. Doesn't look even remotely close to a young Harrison Ford.

That teaser did absolutely nothing for me. Doesn't look even remotely close to a young Harrison Ford. I think that's the hardest thing to swallow about it is it's just hard to make a connection without some remote resemblance other than "he likes to say different versions of the 'we're all fine here, how are you' line". Even beyond this, Han Solo is goofy and mostly full of crap to those around him. This made him look like some dashing swashbuckler and it's just hard to accept. But really you can get over most of that if you are straight up looking at the guy and he looks more like Harrison Ford. Any movie that's made outside of the core episodes should be going out of its way to have a painstaking consistency in reference to those characters or it's just too difficult to eat. Then again I couldn't handle the CG Tarkin and Leia, either, so who knows. I feel like Rian Johnson did something to this effect in Looper (which I have not seen)? Anyone see this? Couldn't they have at least tried an approach like that?

Couldn't they have at least tried an approach like that? I was totally fine with CGI Tarkin and Leia. I thought they looked just good enough for it to work. I just can't buy that this guy is supposed to be Han Solo. He is nothing like him. Doesn't look like him, doesn't appear to act like him, not even remotely close to the same voice. It just screams cashgrab to me. "HEY MAKE SOME RANDOM MOVIE, SLAP THAT SOLO NAME ON IT AND MAKE ME MONEY DAMMIT!" seems to have been the thought process here.

A Reddit comment summed it up perfectly for me. "It looks like a porno with an above average budget." Nail meet head.

Looper used CGI on JGL's nose to make him look like a young Bruce Willis. I don't think it worked that well from a cosmetic standpoint, but the story was so good it kind of drowns the visual issues out. It's an extremely well acted movie, as well. It was also made easier by the fact that you were getting an interweaving narrative where you saw Willis and JGL face-to-face. So not what is happening here with Solo. This is a kid cosplaying a character who is way too iconic to be spun up for a prequel imo. If they hire Anthony Ingruber this probably doesn't happen, though. I don't think any of that detracts from the fact that this isn't how Disney should be handling standalone films. Obi-wan works because everyone already feels comfortable with an established Ewan (And Alec has been dead for 17 years). Boba Fett works because he's a cult background character who had very little established screen-time (In that regard a Lando movie with Glover would have been a better idea). Or maybe, just maybe, they do something like Knights of the Old Republic and stay away from the Saga altogether... The Last Jedi: Let the past die. Kill it! Solo: But don't forget about me because we still ing love money!

I Never wanted to see this movie made. No need to have anyone else play Han (or any of the main characters in the OT), I can’t look past it unfortunately.
Between this and the turd that was Last Jedi, my excitement for Star Wars has come to a screeching halt. Never would have thought that was possible.

i Enjoyed the trailer for solo and can’t wait. Only thing that bugged me was he portrayal of Han (at least what was shown) He had kind of a dryness and ruggedness to him, this kid seems a bit too goofy and happy.
I personally think Donald Glover is going to steal the show.

www.polygon.com/2018/2/7/16985512/disney-star-wars-marvel-netflix-streamingThoughts on more television (and ultimately a GoT creator trilogy since it doesn't look like anyone has mentioned that yet)? For me it is definitely way beyond anything that would carry my interest. I am super into the Skywalker core episodes and that story arc but I can't imagine there will be anything beyond this that will catch my attention (other than if the Obi-Wan/Cast Away ever gets made). That article pretty much sums up what I think a lot of us have felt and spoken about (or at least I have over the years) with oversaturation and bloat/fatigue or whatever you want to call it. Weird because you never think it would happen with Star Wars. Ultimately I think there might be a gem here and there over the years but I will be moving on after 1-9 are complete and I'm good with just enjoying those only. I know it isn't really of the same mind but I've been basically only enjoying the first Turtles movie for like 20 years haha. So this isn't too much more difficult. What do y'all think?

I haven't taken the time to read much of this thread so I don't know what people here thought of The Last Jedi.
I can honestly say I loved it. It had a few weak points but as a whole, I enjoyed it. I don't quite get the hate it's gotten from fans.
And yes, I have a plush porg.

I'm not seeing this one. The Last Jedi left a bad taste in my mouth. If this was an Obi-Wan stand alone I'd be more interested

Not sure if anyone is still watching Rebels but A World Between Worlds is probably the best episode of the entire series to-date imo. Really tied in all of the mythos of the show and really from Clone Wars, as well. Really impressed with it. I'm hoping the finale isn't littered with tragedy but I don't think there is any other way to really do it.

Ive just watched the first ep after the season break......ahhhhh man. I agree with you....it has to end in tragedy

Rebels was like an ending, but a beginning. Like woah. That show is really good imo. I can't wait to see what is next.

Episode VIII let me know Kathleen Kennedy is Jafar and Star Wars is Genie. "Sorry kid,I got a new master now." I'll catch Solo and Episode XI on Blu Ray at a friend's house. I'm not even going to pay Red Box price.
