Honestly, IMO, none. I try to convert them to Elite if possible or I pass on them. I think the only basic that Ive bought and kept basic was the EG Piper & T-shirt Hogan.

I display Elites on shelves and then use basics for playing around with rings. Some basics do end up on the shelf, especially if they can be used under a static item like the plastic robes (eg WM 30 HHH) so I can then enjoy the Elite articulation underneath as a separate figure.
But any basic Ultimate Warrior is pretty good for the shelf, most t-shirt series basics, especially the Roddy Piper with the Entrance Greats kilt, and anything else that has an elite budget on basic articulation. Some basics that didn't work for me are guys like Honky Tonk Man and Surfer Sting because they aren't scaled well next to their Elite counterparts.

The J&J Security battle pack are a necessity if you're gonna make the authority

I think the forthcoming basic Samoa Joe is gonna be worth it. His articulation is hindered on the elite drastically. The basic somehow is going to have more of a range of movement. Also, Joe's ab crunch isn't the best looking thing.
I always thought Brodus Clay's ab rocker was unattractive too and I much preferred his basic torso.

I've probably got just slightly more basics than elites actually. Its a narrow margin if i do. So, for the most part, i have zero qualms about them. It would be easier for me to name the ones that aren't worth it i think. Lol......a couple that spring to mind are the previously mentioned Honky Tonk Man. Which is didappointing as hell since he looks great ,but the scale is way off. Another, for the same reason, is that Signatutre Series Dean Ambrose. On the best side of the basics, i can certainly echo a lot of the sentiments made already. Any flashback basic BUT HTM is worth it. The Basic Tensai is better than his elite, RVD, the purple hued Stardust, and the Dudleys are all top notch.

Must have basics:
John Cena (especially red) Damien Mizdow Adam Rose/ Bunny bp Kidd/ Cesaro bp Titus/Young bp
^^ Your collection is weak sauce without these.

Bubba's a little on the skinny side, but the 2-pack of the Dudley Boyz is outstanding. The camo feels off on the Elites, and the Basics seem more accurate aside from the lack of glasses.
I like Jericho and Daniel Bryan's Basics, too. They need stockier bodies for them in Elite.
Mr. Perfect's best figure is the yellow Basic.

Basics look better displayed in my opinion as I hate the crunch in the an area, no superstar I've ever seen has this so its not something I like about elites. Give me more deco and more accessories and scrap that altogether, again, in my opinion.

At this point as a Elite collector, I would have to say Finn Balor. As of right now it seems very clear to me that basic are gonna be for the regular Finn Balor, and elites will be for Demon Balor's. Which sucks because I love there Finn Balor's scan. Wish soon we will get an Elite regular Finn Balor.

Some of the better basics, in my opinion, are, in no particular order:
Mr. Perfect Basic 37 (yellow attire) Ultimate Warrior Battle Pack 31 (Royal Rumble '91 attire) Macho Man Basic 26 (WrestleMania V attire) British Bulldog SummerSlam Heritage (SummerSlam '92 attire)
I'm also a legends/flashbacks only collector.

Get B44 Kane. It has a basic torso, but it has elite legs.
