So everybody is talking about Sasha, Brock, the universal title, but what about John Cena. I know he is going to film for a tv show, but what was up with the dramatic exit. Leaving his wrist band in the ring and walking away.

It was his way of saying goodbye for now. As well as passing AJ the torch. Even if it's only temporary

Didn't think about that when he just stood there in the corner in shock.

It was a way to write him off.. nothing really special. Didn't he do the same against Brock at Extreme Rules? But I will say I respect the hell outta Cena.. He always puts on a great match when it is a big fight feel.

He gave the ultimate rub to AJ. He sold for him, he put him over clean and he left looking genuinely defeated.
I have a new found respect for him after last night. That's exactly what AJ Styles needed.

That's exactly what AJ Styles needed. Cena has always been my favorite and it's great to see him get the respect he truly deserves from last night.

I sort of viewed it as his way of saying that he left it all in the ring, and for one of the only times in his career, it wasn't enough. There were no bells and whistles, no interference, no cheating, he was just straight up beat by a guy who said he was better than him.
I thought the commentary team did a great job of speculating what was going on in Cena's head after AJ kicked out of the top rope AA. The notion that Cena was seeing himself in Styles in that moment - the guy that can take absolutely everything you've got and still survive - was really special. In that moment, Cena realized he couldn't beat Styles. It was great.

I like to think of this feud as the best storytelling WWE has done in a while. It wasn't convoluted. It wasn't over something dumb. It was about who can beat who, even though one was heel. And the matches told the story too. This is the first time where a slowburn really paid off. You had AJ "beat" Cena in Round 1. At that point Cena knew he needed to pull out all the stops to beat AJ. In Round 2, he busts out a top rope AA which puts AJ away. In Round 3, you have AJ going alone (when he hasn't beat Cena by himself) going up against Cena, who busts out a sunset bomb, his girlfriend's TKO, and can't put him away. When he uses the one move that he knows beat Styles in the past, and only gets a 2 count,he's shocked. He literally used every move in his arsenal and still couldn't put him away. The fans ate it up too. We know that there'd be a few false finishes, but we also knew that the top rope AA had worked before. When he missed the first time, we figured that was just a false finish, but then when he moments later was able to hit it again, and quick cover Styles, the fact that Styles kicked out not only blew Cena's mind, but blew the audience's as well. The two stories going on here were brilliantly portrayed by these two.

My Son was upset that John Cena lost to AJ Styles at SummerSlam, as any member of the CeNation would feel. He was extremely pissed off that Cena left the way he did, because we have tickets to see Smackdown in Philly in September. He fears that he won't see Cena (pun intended) at my Son's first ever WWE Live event.

Masterful storytelling from two of the masters of the craft.

I'm not a fan of Cena but I will keep saying this him and AJ stole the night. The match had me on my feet the whole entire night to the point where I was a bit sad when AJ pinned Cena. Did anyone notice that Cena look a little pissed? I forget the bump but it was similar to when Rollins kicked Cena in the nose and he held the STFU for a while.

That match last night proved that Cena is no doubt a top great in this business and an amazing storyteller.

Cena was one of the main reasons I ignored the product for so long.
He should have lost to Styles. It's the only real option at this point.

It was my favorite match of the night, and to see AJ Styles kick out of the top rope AA, and then beat him clean was amazing. I've been an AJ Styles fan since his beginnings, so seeing him treated so well in the WWE is really nice. Props to both guys for going all out.

I thought it was great as the opener really set the tone for the night. Maybe even the best match on thr card.

It was my favorite match of the weekend between Takeover/Summerslam. It was the only match that delivered at SS.
