Thing is, WWE likes to blur the line so much that this could very well be the beginnings of a work that will spill over on to TV at a later time.

So let me get this straight, the plan was for Brock to bust Randy open the hard way? In a time when a concussion just forced Daniel Bryan to retire, and 30 some odd former employees are suing WWE for negligence over head trauma, Vince let Brock bust Randy open? Come on now. Vince just had to jump in and protect his golden goose, and by golden goose I mean his giant waste of 5 million a year. I don't know about a waste of 5 million.. ESPN just launched its own coverage of WWE content online, Rollins just guested on First Take, Coach interviews a wrestler on SC weekly. If I remember correctly, Brock announcing that he'd be resigning with WWE on ESPN tv was one of the first times the Worldwide Leader actually acknowledged the fact that sports fans CARE about the WWE. Brock is a foundational piece behind not only the success of this "New Era", but its potential as well

Brock is a foundational piece behind not only the success of this "New Era", but its potential as well He's proven to not make a difference in ratings. WWE's TV deal with NBCUniversal is the single most important revenue stream they have. Brock brought wrestling fans to UFC, but I don't see many UFC fans that came over to WWE to see Brock "fake" fight. The ratings have consistently shown that Brock isn't worth tuning into Raw to see. Sure, that's probably the booking situation where he doesn't do anything or he does the same things over-and-over, but that's also the reality of the situation. Network Subs have pretty much plateaued too. So it's not like hundreds of thousands of people were rushing to signup for the Network because he was facing Randy Orton. The ESPN relationship is phenomenal but it wasn't made due to Brock. It was made because a senior coordinating producer at ESPN captured hard data on the correlation between ESPN viewers and their interest in WWE content based on Social Media. So they struck a deal based on that hard data and it's why we're able to see guys like Rollins and New Day get interviewed by Coach and why John Cena was a great fit to host the ESPYs. I like Brock. I think he's a monster that when used correctly is as fun as any guy in WWE history to watch. That being said, he's only good for that kind of performance once a year, maybe. He's getting paid like he's the Rock and only carries a fraction of the pull.

One thing you have to consider is that Randy has been out injured a hell of a lot in recent years. So after just returning from a long term injury they decide they're going to risk him getting a concussion and bleed a ridiculous amount of blood?
Of course we're supposed to believe it was a work, they would be tarnishing the good corporate PG company reputation that they've built up over the past 8 years.
With regards to this altercation - The other thing you have to think about is who on the roster would have the balls to go and question what was happening.
Again though, if this story is legit, then the blame falls on whoever wouldn't tell jericho what was going on.
