Hey guys,
I recently completed Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist (yes, I still have a PS3). For anyone unaware, they have three different 'play styles' based on your preference.
Ghost - The elite stealth player; essentially preferring to slip past guards, using knockout gas to incapacitate bad guys, etc.
Panther - As close to 'Ghost' as you can get, but not adverse to killing enemies with silenced weapons, close-quarters stabbing, etc.
Assault - Technically not stealthy whatsoever; the game is able to be played by those who would rather be seen, shooting loudly and violently.
...it got me thinking - and not just in this game specifically, but what kind of play style do you have for these kind of games?
I'm definitely in the 'Panther' category; I got more points based on this style than any other, and for games with different approaches (Unchartered to Watch Dogs to Far Cry to Tomb Raider to The Last Of Us and beyond for example); essentially games where stealth is an option of taking the game on, would you fall into any of these categories?
Would you be a mixture of two depending on the level or is there a predominant style you fall back to?
Curious to hear your thoughts.
Cheers

I'm a panther. I like to stick to a Bow in most games with a stealthy approach, so I'll kill if I can't get close enough.

The main reason I will never 100% Assassin's Creed games is because I jusy can't do stealth. I'm terrible at it.

I love the Deus Ex games. I work very hard to avoid any enemy confrontations.

Panther, definitely. My sneaky character in Skyrim was built to kill in silence. There were definitely places she could have gotten around without bloodshed, but it's too fun to kill without being seen. Much more fun, IMO, than in the Tenchu series where you're avoiding contact at all costs, with your score actually depending on it.

Man you know, the little stories you tell in the RPG game threads really wishes you'd stream your gaming on Twitch. I'd watch the freaking hell out of that.

Not sure how many people would enjoy me cussing like the sailor I am, in my South Louisiana drawl, while listening to podcasts in the background. Now, maybe when I'm having a bit of vodka . . .

As a side note I was disappointed that several parts of Splinter Cell: Blacklist insisted I go the 'Assault' path...especially the parts with you in control of Briggs in first-person.

Yeah, I mean it didn't bother that much because to the game's credit it plays very well as a shooter but it really went against the freedom that made it work so well (I also consider it the most underrated game of the last generation so I'm glad to see someone else giving it love). With stealth games I generally try to play them quietly until I inevitably screw it up and then it just becomes a shoot-out. Or in the case of Far Cry 4, decide to ride an elephant to take over an Outpost.

It was quite jarring for me and I failed several times because I'm just not that type of player. Say there's a level with multiple enemies and the setting is already that they're unaware I'm there, I will hunt them all one by one to ensure I'm not seen. If I get seen and it raises the alarm, I'll restart. Something in me compels me to do the whole thing without being seen and to leave none alive.

I'll try to stealthily kill them all but nine times out of ten I'll get busted and try to Rambo my way through the rest.

In most stealth games I'm an assault but I usually I'm able to find cover or kill a bad guy before others notice
@3nwpro you might like Splinter Cell Conviction I had fun with that one
Manhunt 1 and 2 were pretty fun stealth games for ps2 but givin it's controversy I dont see them making a 3rd
I also liked
Deus Ex Human Revolution Theif Dishonored

Definitely panther too. Sometimes if I'm able I'll hunt them down one by one, either with a sniper rifle or throwing knives or something that doesn't make noise. lol

Assault. In most games I've played I end up preferring to mow guys down. It's more fun to me. That's how I've been playing Fallout 4 recently.
