I'm glad you brought this up, I've been wondering the same thing. I never thought I'd see the day when Walgreen's would be my best chance of finding new Elites. My Targets, Walmarts, and TRU feel trapped in the past. Luckily I was able to find a TNF Bam Bam yesterday, but the rest of the figures have been the same ones all year.

Great topic, thanks for creating this thread.
Interesting to see that you guys in the USA are experiencing the same problem that we are seeing here in Canada. It looks like the problem is systemic and IMO the blame can be placed on E39 which at this point in time might go down as the worst selling Elite series in the history of the line. Walmart here started carrying elites from Series 32 (which was around the time I started collecting) and they continued stocking them regularly through series 39. There was a bit of a bump in the road with series 33 which warmed a little but nothing like what we are seeing with series 39- this set is not moving at all. I am starting to wonder if WM or TRU will ever stock in any new elites?! The last new set at TRU is also E39, they seem to have switched focus to their exclusives with the Network spotlight figures flooding the shelves.
I am wondering the same thing although basics still appear to be selling well as Walmart here is almost up to date with these. It would be interesting to know what percentage of sales current fans make up and what percentage old school collectors (like myself) make up?! Personally, I think Mattel puts out too much product, do they really need to release so many basic & elite series per year?! I think the lack of new product at retail might be an indication that they are pumping out too much and need to scale things back a bit. Most average WWE fans are not going to buy figs from every single set that is released and I would wager that they make up the majority of buyers- collectors make up only a small segment of the customer base.

I'm wondering where Elite 42 and 43 are at. There's probably 100 thousand figures sitting in warehouses throughout the United States.

I'm actually OK with this at the moment because I'm broke, lol. But it has been a surprising year in this aspect. I've really resorted to buying pretty much any elites I want/need from RSC ... get them months in advance and don't have to worry about retail. Found Target Dusty/ring last night and that was the first fig I've purchased at retail in a long time.
It will pick up again in the Christmas season, I'm sure, like it always does though.

Why is the US so lagging behind I wonder Because there's broke bum ass collectors who buy up the hot figures, then return swaps or shelf warming garbage for a refund. Sh¡t like that restricts new product from hitting store shelves.

Sh¡t like that restricts new product from hitting store shelves. I have thought this and people trying to price match everything may be partly responsible for this as well. Not every store can probably afford to price match figures (even though they may do it) and the big sales usually are because of stores trying to get rid of old stock and the stores with new stuff have to match it and probably don't make anything.

It's been like that for my son. I took him to TRU yesterday, and it had the Finn Balor series like it has the last 3 months. I took him to target and all they had was 5 Junkyard Dogs, a Daniel Bryan with the Wyatt jumpsuit, and the Dusty ring set.
So we stopped by Walgreens and got HHH (terminator one) and they also had Jerry Saggs. I got him Owens from Gamestop a few weeks ago. I wish it was like when I was a kid.

And to add on to my previous post, basics and battle packs are regularly updated. It is lack of new, regular elites that is the problem. We get the store exclusives in my area weeks after it is spotted in other parts of North America. So no issues on that front. Some of my stores still have Elites and even some basics from last Black Friday. I believe they just got sooooo many of the same guys in that basically everyone in the area that was going to buy them probably already did, and the remains are still there. Adam Rose Elite Daniel Bryan Elite Undertaker - many variations Bad News Barrett basics Bray Wyatt basics

I honestly don't even know what's at retail. I rarely if ever buy from them anymore. Amazon or ringside is sooo much easier and cheaper in the long run. If I want something I am guaranteed to have it instead of looking high and low

Same problem where I am and I've almost gone entirely to Marvel Legends because they actually have waves.
Target and Walmart have been barren wastelands for most of the year (still have Titos, Bryans, and JYD). Walgreens is hit and miss at best with TRU the only place that has (barely) stocked anything past e40 and even then they are pegging Bo and WM Undertaker hard.
As I said, I've almost lost interest in wrestling figs because there has been nothing this whole year. I think the only one I've bought is Lita.

"Where they at doe?!!??!!?" Sounds like many of us seem to be in need of a New Day @ retail, rather than those stuck-in-the-past B.A.D. times/days we've been having, all behind on the newer product in demand and such . . . makes me wanna say to most of the stores: "Why y'all late doe?!!?" (repeated times Infinity4Eternity)

e39 is to blame for ALL our woes this year. That was the x-mas set, and it arrived either the week of or AFTER x-mas (so x-mas in actuality cleared out alot of junk)... SO having nothing 'new' for x-mas, people still jumped on it when it hit. THEN they sent out the revision cases with double the Sid (I believe) and it was over from the point OFFICIALLY. E39 is the grinch that killed collecting. I found ONE wal-mart (by luck of a friend who a pic of the isle while he was there) and found e40. Got Rude, Umaga and IRS - no Sammy but I was happier than a pig in sh*te. But that;s it, one store one time. I've gone to another province and another city and it's the same garbage EVERYWHERE - and it's like that ALL over Canada and the U.S.
So who's to blame - if everyone got the x-mas stock out late, isn't that oddly coincidental for ALL of North America? Or did mattel ship everything to them (ALL once again, at the same time) LATE?
Either way, from what I've seen - this year pushed people to the brink of giving up... Comic's promises of goodness kept us hooked but...honestly people, I'm still down 123 kid, lita, funk, nasty's, harts, DM warrior, etc etc etc... Do I even THINK I have a chance in hell of finding ANYTHING from comic con?
If it weren't for the network spotlight figures I think I would be done. I just quit cigs 2 days ago - just like that. One morning it was just f'n gross. I almost did that with mattel this year (altough let's be honest that prob would be harder, I'll go down with this ship!!! lol) but you get the idea...

Many Elites sell extremely well, it's just a lot of the same shelfwarmers nobody wants clogging stores up to this very day. Ditto for the HOF line. It's the Tito Santana series at this stage.

I buy online as often as possible because I know retail won't have anything of note.

I was wondering about this myself. I just started collecting seriously about a month and a half ago but I've been spotting figures at retail for about the last 6 months or so. It's so weird how it's working out. Here's my loca rundown lately:
Toys R Us: This has probably been my most consistent spot, especially with the $14.99 Elite saw they had for two weeks. I got all the Network Spotlight Elites there. Also grabbed all of E41 there outside of Lita. Been a solid place to get DMs too. Outside of the Summerslam Basic series, their basic are nothing but Cena/Orton. Battle packs are Summerslam basics or J&Jsecurity.
Target - Outside of the Dusty ring, nothing for months. I regularly check two loca Targets. One has some Titos and really nothing else new at all. No basics at all either. NONE. The other Target has some Horsemen sets and some Tito's. Nothing else.
Walmart - There's 3 local ones I rotate. One I was lucky to find the TNF Rusev and another had the TNF Bam Bam. One of the WNs has allowed me to find E40 except for Sami. Just grabbed Unaga there last night. One has had ZERO Elites during my time going there but I grabbed the Bushwackers BP as well as Enzo/Cass.
GameStop - I generally have no luck here at all. But I did try a new one last week where I grabbed the E40 Tyson Kidd, and E42 Samoa Joe/Kevin Owens. Have never ever seen another wrestling figure in one. Went back last night and they haven't even stocked to replace the ones I bought.
Walgreens - I've only ever found two good figs there. The exclusive DX HBK Elite and a E42 Kalisto. The one that had Kalisto also had the HHH and Nasty Boys from that series but I already had them. One in my area has E35 Orton and nothing else though.
Now that I own just about everything i want from these places, everything they have is seemingly shelf warmers. I've since made 3 orders to RSC because my hunts keep coming up empty. Plus, no scale rings at retails either, so that was kind of important to me.

My ex used to work for hasbro and explained to me that in summer months from May to September, a lot of retail stores reduce orders for action figures, dolls, etc. and place emphasis on summer-focused outside toys like water related toys, cars, bikes, scooters, guns, etc. it explains why not much stocking happens during the summer.
