I was at home sick and spent the day playing PS2 so I had zero idea what was happening until later that night when it was all over the news.

I can't believe its been 15 years. I remember the day, where I was, what I felt. Here we are now, 15 years later, and it seems patriotism has fallen to an all new low. This country is a night and day difference compared to this day 15 years ago. -- Because most of us have awoken from the horse$#!t that we've been fed since those days. Patriotism is nothing but hype anyways: don't buy into it because it won't buy into you.

There are many policies and laws I disagree with. But I am proud and privillaged to be here.

I was in 10th grade. They did an announcement and then we pretty much went into lockdown for the rest of the day. They told us to just stay in whatever room we were in at the time, only to leave to go to the bathroom, and to still come to the cafeteria during our regular lunch period, but then go back to the classroom after lunch. We all pretty much just sat there and watched on the TV's.
It was weird. Nobody really knew how to act. Nobody really said anything. It wasn't like a normal day of not having class like when you have a sub and kids talk or just hang out........just sort of a stunned silence. We understood the gravity of the situation and tremendous loss of life that was occuring.

I was about 6 years of age and don't remember much of it other then spending the next school day singing songs while holding up the American Flag. What's more sad is that we went to war and ended up having more people killed than 9/11. I still think the government was involved, because there's no way a building falls straight down like that unless it was a demolition. I can assure you, you didn't need explosives to destroy them. When the original World Trade Center towers were being built, they used a light-weight truss system to create the column-free floor plan. As each floor was being built, they used such weak fire-proofing that didn't help the towers on 9/11. As tenants moved out of the towers, and new one's came, the fire-proofing was upgraded. What post people don't know, the fire-proofing where AA11 crashed into the North Tower had it's fire-proofing upgraded. However, it was no match for the inferno that was caused when the planes crashed into them. The new WTC buildings went back to using steel girders for the floor's with a concrete core in the center. Additionally, the new One and Four World Trade Center has stairwells on the outer portions of the building. What was amazing about the aftermath was how much artifacts survived the attack. When I was a 9/11 Museum volunteer, I offered people some knowledge that you won't find in any book.

My main memories is waking up that morning to watch Invade Zim, I passed by my mom's room and she is sobbing. She explained to me what's was happening and then I cried.
This song sums up a lot of the feelings i had.

Just expressing the basis of your statement you made to begin with. Face the facts: there's good and bad anywhere you go in this world. It's the environments & societies you surround yourself with that ultimately dictate where you're most comfortable being, most fond of being. That's what you're proud of and privileged to have, regardless of what country you're in. If you're outside of your comfort zone, say for example locked up in Guan Bay (which is still apart of the US), or even in prison for a crime you didn't commit, I can almost guarantee you that you would feel somewhat differently - especially when you know you're in the right and the authorities are dead wrong. There's more to the topic I could get deep into, but my only point was to justify your initial comment of patriotism at becoming more and more unpopular (laws & policies, having to play a big part in as well, so kudos for at least acknowledging that).

I was coming home from work. I would go to sleep right as soon as i got home but that day I turned the tv on to kind of lull me to sleep. I saw one channel but I didnt pay much attention. I saw smoke and and a tower but I thought it was a fire.
I always hate how the media focuses on New York. I live in Chicago, tell me about Chicago stuff. For example every New Years the networks LOVE to tell us in Chicago what they are doing in New York all night, why not show me what they're doing here in Chicago?
So I watched and thought, look, the media wants to shove New York down our throats some more. I changed the channel. The next channel had the same image, so I changed it, I clicked through a few channels and it was the same so I finally decided to listen. Then as I watched the live broadcast the second tower was hit.
I was in shock. I couldnt believe what I was watching. I saw people jumping out of windows, jumping to their deaths. It was a sad day.

I've always felt that conspiracy theories use a small amount of evidence, make some bs up and the people who spout it just present this garbage they have read or watched as the real truth. The steel beams one is hilarious. Because they would totally be able to plant explosives in two of the busiest buildings in the world without anyone realising. I visited the 9/11 Museum and one of the things that shocked me was the number of artifacts that survived. As someone said previously, it is one of the most interesting things to read up on or watch documentaries on. I could have spent a lot longer than I did in the museum.

If people understood how the original Trade Center buildings were built, you'll see why the collapsed in the fashion that they did. The truss floor system was bolted down to the core & outer frame of both towers. When the fires inside the building started, they began to fail after it reached a certain temperature. The rest is history.

I wonder how the world would be if 9/11 didn't happen.
