Was there not rumours this could happen? I don't think so

I like it, don't get me wrong.
I'm one of those guys that was a fan of her ever since her Alexis Laree days...but what did she do to deserve a title shot in her first match back in the WWE in almost seven years?

Was there not rumours this could happen? There were some rumors a ways back that she was part of that WWE Alumni initiative that WWE was going after because of the Brand Split. She was part of the list of names with Benjamin, Hawkins, Mahal, Rhyno, etc...

Ha ha ha ha ha!! A good sign of things to come for NXT, when their women division is so bad now that they gotta bring in an old relic from 10 years ago to face Asuka for the Women's Title. That's what happens when you don't build any new stars and you push your main NXT girls to the WWE roster too fast. At least I'm not the only one laughing right now.

Plain and simply Mickie is coming in to put Asuka over as an even bigger threat. James going after the NXT titles makes sense as it's the only WWE Women's belt she hasn't won if you don't include the two new belts. Plus this is a great way to test the reaction James gets before she moves onto Raw or Smackdown if she's interested in sticking around.

Sounds great, she was one of my favourite female wrestlers during the RA era!

That's what happens when you don't build any new stars and you push your main NXT girls to the WWE roster too fast. Or you know they don't have to build up these people televised. I hate how nxt is "developmental" when in reality it is making fans dislike wwe which is bad. Now I like this match, but i refuse to like the concept of nxt. How is developmental when all they do is bring in stars from around the world and putting them in nxt just to debut and get pushed way too fast. Wwe needs to start growing talent themselves or else they could be testing a risky future. Because NXT is less developmental at this point and more just a glorified in-house indy promotion. If it was still regarded as developmental then there wouldn't be a reason for Asuka, Nakamura, Joe, Aries, Roode, etc to be on NXT because they should all be on the main roster helping bring those shows some depth. Sure they use it as a way to get their new stars on TV learning how to work for TV but it's really barely developmental at this point. Also, why do they need to grow talent themselves when they can hire people with an established fan base that could potentially be stars right away? That logic doesn't make sense to me.

Mickie James is the best total package female in the history of WWE imo. She's entitled to a Women's Championship match her first night back no matter where she goes. NXT, Raw, Smackdown, Impact, any of it. Her feud and match with Trish at WM22 is still the standard that all female wrestlers should be chasing.
Mickie vs Asuka is going to be amazing.

I'm happy she is returning to WWE for atleast 1 match. If she decides to go to the main roster again there are plenty of new women I'd like to see her feud with.

Plain and simply Mickie is coming in to put Asuka over as an even bigger threat. With the state of that women's division in NXT, I think Asuka needs to be LESS of a threat. She has already been built up to be unbeatable. She doesn't need that extra bump up the ladder beating Mickie James. That would just put her higher up where there is even less of a shot any girl in NXT currently can beat her. Bottom line: Asuka is too good for NXT, much like several other stars they have down there.

I love this!!!
NXT isn't developmental anymore, I don't know why people continue to criticize it for not being that way. it's been over a year now where they have been touring, getting action figures, being on video games, selling merchandise etc. They clearly aren't developmental anymore and that's fine. They are putting on great shows and entertaining us so who really cares?
Plus it is still a great place to go and get over first before getting called up to the main roster. Plus it is great for people like Liv Morgan or Mandy Rose to be able to work with Veterans like Asuka and Mickie James. NXT has become a nice mix of "developmental" and seasoned Indy Veterans that they can learn from. I think it works out just fine. Their women's division looks a lot stronger if Mickie James sticks around for a while:
Asuka Ember Moon Mickie James Peyton Royce Billie kay Nikki Cross Liv Morgan Mandy Rose
Pretty Solid.

These people haven't experienced wwe crowds or cutting promos in front of big audiences and it's prepping them as well as learning the wwe style with having cameras constantly on you

But she's only been on TV since August and that's not enough time to make her a top name IMO. By the time January's Takeover comes she will be ready and I see her topping Asuka there. From there it's pretty much a fresh slate for the NXT women.

I like that Mickies coming back to face Asuka, but it does show the lack of depth the Women's division has currently
