All it would accomplish is confusing the people who boo him to prove how they're not doing what Vince wants.

Cena is in the twilight of his career and is trying to parlay his squeaky clean TV image into some sort of TV gig outside of WWE. I don't think a heel turn is any more likely now than it was when he was the day-in, day-out workhorse.

A heel turn would definitely change up Smackdown for sure, WWE just needs to find the right guy for Cena to turn heel against. Much like Jericho vs. Michaels in 08.

How can you turn Cena heel? I can't see him just telling the crowd how he doesn't like them anymore lol The amount of times he's pandered to the crowd over the years, it just wouldn't make sense. But then again, there is no sensical logic in WWE ever so In desperation, he cheats to get title #16.

In desperation, he cheats to get title #16. I like this, but I'd save that for the record breaking #17.

They could totally get away with it now, with two brands. Cena is slowing down his schedule, and they have Orton and Ambrose as big fan favourites (and Styles will be a huge favourite when he eventually turns again). Got Reigns, Rollins and Balor face for the foreseeable future. Perfect time for it, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I could see Cena turning heel on AJ by bringing in the Club as "free agents" AJ could definitely be a top face... if they wanted him to be....

Like someone else mentioned. Have him resort to cheating to beat Styles and win #16. Double turns often create the biggest stars.

funny thing is, if Cena does a heel turn, i bet alot of the people that boo him (including myself) would be behind him once he turned heel. i know i would. but being realistic, i can't see him doing that because there are so many kids that are behind him and he does so many Make A Wish requests

He's been a lot edgier since his return on SmackDown, I can't see him going full blown "I hate the fans" heel but I can see him going darker in his quest for the 16th World Title, even resulting in him cheating to get it. He can comment on how fans have booed him for a decade, if he takes the title from Styles I'm sure people would still boo him but this time for the right reasons.

Too late.
He's actually been less insufferable the past two years. But his corny suck-up promos are still painful.

According to a story published by Forbes, WWE is heavily considering turning John Cena heel in the near future. This report claims that they are considering a heel turn for Cena in order to get some of the younger generation over and that his role as a full-time competitor isn't as prominent as it once was. In addition, there have been some growing concerns regarding the ratings for Smackdown and a lot believe a heel turn for Cena would help in that regard because it would make people tune in more. Also, some officials would like to see John Cena as a heel for a feud with The Undertaker for WrestleMania 33 when he returns from his hiatus. Heel turn on Smackdown....rip Ellsworth I don't follow wrestling very much anymore...but this is anywhere from 4-10 years too late. Does anyone even care about Cena anymore? I was under the impression he wasn't even a top guy on SD! anymore. 2010 was probably the time to do it, having him be the leader of the Nexus.

The fact that this rumor has lasted as long as it has makes me want to just see it happen so the people that swear it will be 'amazing' and 'game changing' will finally be silenced when they see how it does absolutely nothing, ends and then is never spoken of again. If anything, it would probably just be anticlimactic at this point. This...the guy isn't the top guy in the company anymore. I don't even follow it anymore and I can tell you he isn't the pivotal point of the show...hasn't been since 2013.

They've had WAY too many chances over the years to do this. I can't see it happening, at this point.

So what... he turns heel, the kids get confused and boo him, and all of us older fans cheer him, thus making him a face by default??
Cena will never go heel. He grants so many make a wish things for the kids, he sells so much merchandise, the guy doesn't ever need to go heel.
The era of being edgy is over with. Look at our world now, being edgy and having attitude is gone. Being a wuss and being offended by everything appears to be in. So Cena will stay the way he is.

I just don't see it happening or working unless he f5s a small child or something. Hard to do and make it meaningful in this era.

Undertaker already lost at WrestleMania. Who cares what he does there? Cena, Ambrose, Ellingsworh, a potato, could all beat Taker and it wouldn't mean a thing since Taker already jobbed to a part timer. They should have done this a couple years ago and have a face Cena be the one to end the streak to cement his status as the man of WWE. Not to some jerk who doesn't appreciate it.
Anyway. A heel Cena right now wouldn't mean a thing either. There are no heels or faces anymore now that kayfabe is dead.
