Merchandising is all part of the business. If the wrestler don't wear the shirts the people won't buy the shirts. That's how wwe thinks.

Maybe it's just me but one thing I seriously dislike is when wrestlers wear a t-shirt to the ring when they have a cool entrance attire. Now don't get me wrong the likes of Cena, Orton, CM Punk never had gimmicked entrance attires so always wore merchandise to the ring so they don't really count. But lets look at these guys for instance. Shawn Michaels. In the 00's he ditched his entrance vests for a t-shirt. Damien Sandow. Ditched his robe for a t-shirt. Seth Rollins. only wears his entrance vest at PPV's. AJ Styles. Wears a t-shirt under his vest. Baron Corbin. Same as AJ. Now this is unreleated but Bray Wyatt is another example because sometimes he wrestles in his merchandise which doesn't fit his gimmick at all. I also dread Bobby Roode's call up because he will also probably be forced to ditch his robe for a t-shirt aswell. I also believe that their is a time and place for merchandise and that is when someone is cutting a promo in the ring or backstage but when a wrestler is coming out for a match they should wear their entrance gear. Believe it or not, a lot of this is probably the wrestler's own choosing. These guys get a percentage of their merchandise sales. It's free advertising, not everyone gets time in a promo to wear it...so wearing it to the ring is the only other option.

I honestly think they have the merchandising the wrong way round.
Wyatt is the prime example. The sheep mask was part of Rowan's gimmick, and they sold them on the site and loads of people started buying them. Wyatt should have never worn his merchandise, instead, they should have started selling Hawaiian shirts and straw fedoras.
Ambrose is supposed to be a lunatic, raging against the machine, but he's there wearing the merchandise that's making money for the machine he's supposed to hate. They should have started selling leather jackets like the one he wears.
Then, the fans can look like the wrestler without the wrestler having to wear slogans across their chests.

Only thing I hate is when they wrestle in their merch. KO is an exception.

Usually I'm not bothered by it, but sometimes it gets out of hand. For example Ryback. He had spraypainted singlets which were cool enough IMO, but to the ring he wore a weightbelt, a weird blue shirt, a beanie and a necklace??? It just looked plain rediculous. Ryback's attire over the last 2 years really annoyed me, especially how none of his stuff was really colour co-ordinated lol. On topic though I don't mind wrestlers wearing their own T-shirts.

It doesn't bother me one bit. What if Bobby Roode ditched his glorious robe for a T-Shirt?

Wyatt wearing his T-Shirts bugs me so much. He's suppose to be a cult leader who lives in the woods and has magical powers so why would he wear a WWE produced T-Shirt? I do like your idea about them making the wrestlers entrance attires. They could sell Bobby Roode's robe so people could use them as bath robes and I'm pretty sure Nakamura's coat would be a pretty big seller aswell.

Kevin Owens - the WWE Universal Champion - wrestles in a ing t-shirt for crying out loud, and you are upset about wrestlers wearing their own shirts to the ring when they have cool entrance gear?? Just stop. Yeah but he has B cups. He's not wearing shirts for himself, he's doing it for us.

They make more money if their merchandise sells, and the easiest way for them to promote their merchandise is to wear it on TV. I like a cool entrance coat as much as the next guy, but it's simple economics.

I've never really been bothered by it. Neither have I. I loved looking forward to Daniel Bryan's constant new T-shirts

The Undertaker Kane The Shield Ric Flair Those guys never wore their merchandise and it didn't stop them making a million bucks. Having a good image in wrestling is as important as delivering a solid match in the ring.

Having a good image in wrestling is as important as delivering a solid match in the ring. Kane and the Undertaker are from the hottest period in wrestling, where everyone's merchandise was selling. Ric Flair is from a time when merchandise wasn't as prevalent. And I seem to remember him wearing shirts when he was in Evolution. The Shield were getting constant promo time when they were around. And didn't they wear those half mask things for a while?
