It's not really new, it started not to long ago but what do you guys think about South Park being a continuos show? I personally hate it. I miss when each episode was something different and had no relation to the other. To me it comes off as lazy. The creativity is gone. Also It seems like for the past couple of seasons that all they've done is tackle political news. They've steered away from celebrity drama/random silliness and focus on unfunny politically geared episodes. Are you guys a fan of them? I can't stand them.

It's not laziness. It is much harder to write multiple episode story arcs than it is one off episodes. It doesn't surprise me that you don't enjoy it though because you are a hardcore Trump supporter and they are pretty much skewering Trump the whole time, and to a much lesser degree Clinton and our countries fascination of looking back instead of trying to move forward. That all being said, I am not really a fan of the whole season being one continuous arc, but I would be fine with it being several episodes.

The last one I saw was with the douchey bro dudes. I'd probably just completely quit the show due to 'Pewdiepie' being on an episode though, much like when the Simpsons had Beiber on.

I'm ok with it. I'm invested in this season and I think there will be a big payoff in the end. Should be interesting to see what happens with Cartman.

I'm fine with the one-continuous arc for now. Season 19 was easily the best season yet. And I'm enjoying this season. That said I much prefer the random episodes. I love putting random episodes of South Park on while I'm doing other things, and it's hard to do that with episodes from a continuous story arc. In a perfect world I'd like them to go back to random episodes after this Season. Interesting take on it. I'm pro-Trump/Anti-Hillary and I LOVE what they're doing with Mr. Garrison. They're giving it to Hillary pretty much as good as they are Trump, Garrison is just a much better character than Hildebeast.

It just doesn't seem funny anymore. They try to hard to make politics funny

Nah Pewds was barely there, although a better comparison should've been "Much like when the Simpsons had Lady Gaga on." That episode was just awful.

I honestly love it. We had 18 seasons of basically one off episodes (a few multi-episodes stories sprinkled in there) skewering various celebrities, athletes, and politicians. The formula worked and fans loved most of it. I've got to give Matt Stone and Trey Parker a lot of credit for deciding to take such a swerve and start going with a main story arch that runs through and entire season. IMO, it refreshed the show. Don't get me wrong, the previous formula was good too, but much like The Simpsons, it had gotten a little stale and predictable. Not bad by any means, just not on the level of their previous greatness. Changing the show's format really has breathed new life into the show and allowed them to come up with some creative and hilarious storylines that just wouldn't have worked in the old format.

The shows really gone downhill, I haven't laughed all season. I really can't stand kyle or his family.

I liked the show better when it had its own original plot-lines rather than playing off of every pop-culture event. I think once in a while is perfectly fine, but I think now its just way to excessive.

The satire fan in me loves it.
I watched all the episodes of season 20 sometime ago and thought it was great. To think they've been doing this for twenty years is amazing....glad they mixed it up.

I actually really enjoy the continuous arc. With that being said, I think this has been a relatively weak season. Member Berries are great, though.

It does seem like they took the new Star Wars film personally. I don't blame them though. I agree with them that it was pretty bad.

it's more hit and miss when there's an actual story and they can't just focus on joke after joke, but i find it to have a lot more overall intelligent social commentary - which is very needed in our currently ambiguous state.

I agree! This season feels like I keep watching the same episode over and over!

bummer that this week's episode doesn't air until next week! needed some relief from this chaotic election.

It's funny because the creators have been trying to get the show cancelled for years

I love it. I never really was into South Park until they did the Black Friday bit a few years ago that kinda set off the episodic stuff. Each particular episode has fewer laughs than the old ones but I think if you follow the storylines, it's much funnier on a whole.
I suppose if you're not a fan of their politics though, it's not as good because they have definitely turned even more political than they have in the past.

kind of an off episode, but since they apparently had to rewrite a large amount of the episode due to trump's unexpected victory. still some solid laughs, bill clinton saved it.
two more to go!
