Have you seen it?
Recently I was in a FYE when I came across a copy of Halloween 6. I already owned Halloween 6 on dvd but I saw this one said Producers Cut on the box. It was on sale and I wanted to watch the Halloween movies so I picked it up.
I watched the movie and it is very different from the Halloween 6 I remember from years ago. It has a different "fight" with Michael and Tommy. And it has a different ending. I was in disbelief at what I was watching. I thought it was a much better movie than the film that was released in theaters.
So have you watched it? Does anyone know why there are two different versions of the movie?

I got it in the Halloween box-set.
Sadly I have yet to watch it but I've always heard that it's a MUCH better version of the movie.

I've seen both version. I prefer the producer's cut a lot more than the original version. It better explains the Curse of Thorn and the scenes are a lot smoother. The ending is far better as well!

Yeah, this was a "holy grail" for Halloween fans for nearly 20 years. Story is that they did a couple test screenings with teenagers, and the comments that came back were stuff like "needs more blood" and " the ending sucks ", and such. Leading Dimension to pull the film from it's original Fall of 1995 premiere to do reshoots. The name also changed too : originally it was Halloween 666 : The Origin of Michael Myers.

Funny, I just watched a film about how Rob Zombie killed the Halloween film series (it was most about how Rob Zombie was a sellout though.)

I have only seen Cinema Snob's reviews about both films. That being said The Producer's Cut while flawed is still a well done movie.

So this is at FYE?!? I must grab it. My best friend and I did an entire Halloween marathon this past month. She had never seen the Producer's Cut. I tried explaining it to her but forgot some parts. She about the only person I know who agrees with me about the entire series....even that Halloween 3 is a good film haha but that's another story.

Had Halloween 3 been titled simply "Season Of The Witch" it would be held in much higher regard. I get what they were going for too. Had they done it without halloween 2 instead of H3 it might have worked. Myers was way too established by the time 3 rolled around though.

My point exactly! I have always said if you take 'Halloween' out of the title then you see it a different way. I feel like people want it to be a bad movie because Michael isn't in it. To me, there really wasn't much they could do IF Michael had been in the movie. They omitted him, failed (at the time) and picked it right back up in H4. It was actually pretty good.
I think today, more of my generation views Halloween 3 as a good stand alone film. Fans from that era when H3 first came out have a right to be biased. My mom doesn't care for Season of the Witch. It's a good cheesy 80s horror flick. Plus the soundtrack is really eerie and good. At this point, after Resurrection, Halloween has been played out. I don't like the Rob Zombie films since they didn't expand Halloween at all. H20 ignored the previous films which made mad. At this point, we need a GOOD Halloween film to really give the fans a breath of fresh air.
Halloween 6 has a good story with what it was given. I think some of us wanted a little explanation as to what drives Michael. You can't just keep making multiple movies of him getting shot, stabbed, hung ect...it was stale to me. I personally like Halloween 6 despite some major flaws. It has a lack of a hero/heroine role. They killed of Jamie fairly quickly (which is good since Danielle Harris shot down the role). Dr. Loomis was getting older so I feel like a lot of us were more concerned with his declining health and who would serve as a protagonist after him.
Halloween 6 went for more of the gore factor to shock the audience. I think the lack of story was evident. Correct me if I'm wrong but Scream came along like months after. They probably knew Scream was going to shake up the horror genre. I feel like the creativity in Halloween 6 kind of went out of the window knowing this new generation wanted more gore. It was the first Halloween of the 90s, gore and grunge were in. The movie gave in and tried too hard.

I think Halloween 3 is better than any Halloween movie after 6. And better than 90% of the "horror" stuff out there now.
