Looking for some guidance. I would discripe myself as a casual fan of playing games. I have/had a PS3 and played it lots, then the current gen consoles hit and I kinda moved away from it. Have been thinking about a PS4 for a few months and now the Pro is out I am seriously considering it. I don't/unlikely to start gaming online. I have enjoyed the GTA games, and I like sport/racing games (GT and NBA, WWE etc)
I guess my question is, have games consoles passed a simple person like me behind. I see little to no point getting a slim PS4 when by all reports the pro is a big jump up in power.
Worth it for a non online gamer, how just wants the casual experience?

The Pro is worth it if you have a pretty rocking TV that can support high resolution & 4K. Its not going to hurt if you don't, just there are added benefits.
For the games, the PS4 is absolute worth every single penny. I loathe online games, but I've got about 25 PS4 games. There are so many games out there that you can be into. What's great too is my PS4 is also a media hub just as much as I play games on it. I use it as a Blu-Ray player, Netflix, Hulu, WWE Network, HBO Go and once they return Comedy Central, I'm going full time on PlayStation Vue.
GTA V on PS4 is fun, some other games to check out: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes, The Uncharted Collection (1-3), Uncharted 4, Skyrim, The Last of Us, Bloodborne, Dark Souls II & III, The Witcher III, etc. Those are some fantastic story based games with no online play, GTA V has online but its completely up to you and not required.

And if you plan on getting into VR (which I highly recommend), then I'd go for the Pro.

If you're just now getting into the current-gen systems, then a Pro should be worth the money if you have a 4K TV, or are getting one soon. If you have a 1080P TV and are happy with that, save some money and get the Slim. The extra oomph that the Pro has would be lost on a "regular" HDTV, though the 1 TB hard drive is a nice upgrade from the 500 GB regular and Slim PS4.

By many accounts some games have actually run worse on the Pro for some reason. If you have a bad ass 4K tv, then sure why not. However the PS Pro doesn't play movies in 4K which is something many people don't realize. If you don't have a good 4K tv or aren't planning on one soon, I'd get the slim.
