I heard there's also Irish wrestlers involved too. Why does WWE think that Ireland is apart of the UK? Sure Northern Ireland is, but that's a different country to the Republic of Ireland. Then again, WWE think places like Newcastle & Preston are just a twenty minute drive away from London. I remember when the WWE would have shows in Saitama Super Arena in Japan and they would announce the show as being in Tokyo, even though Saitama is a totally different city with its own unique attractions. It would be like New Japan Pro Wrestling having a show in Anaheim and announcing it as being in Los Angeles.hell a major league baseball team does that lol

I feel like I would have heard something about that before now. Weird.

Anyway, as to the topic of this thread...yeah, sure...go for it. Hopefully it'll give some indy guys a nice paycheck, so why not? The belt looks nice too. Has anyone made a Mattel request thread yet?

Really don't like this idea. We were bringing back wrestling to TV over here but it looks like WWE are gonna step in take all the best talent and not know how to use them, same way there got the cruiserweight division and loads of talent in NXT.

So what happens with this title? Does the winner become part of the WWE? Is this a title that the person will defend in other promotions only in the UK? Is this a once a year thing like King of the Ring used to be, but was never actually defended?

Ah so that's good then. I still don't get this tournament, they're gonna crown a WWE UK champion and leave him in the UK without a WWE contract? They're not gonna bring a British division to smackdown or raw?

I know a couple of these guys, T-Bone, Sam Gradwell (Who I know as RJM) and Pete Dunne, all talented wrestlers. Can't wait for this tournament! Tried to get tickets but they sold out fast.

Surprised (not really) by the negativity here. It's a way to bring in more fans to the network. A Network WWE offers us for a very cheap price. Watch if you're interested. Don't watch if you don't care. It won't affect you if you don't let it.

That's not to say that wwe won't eventually offer any of these guys any contracts.Taking all of the top guys from the uk indie scene.

It's a good looking belt, I'm just not sure on a couple of things. What will the UK Champion then do? Just defend at next years tournament? It isn't going to be a weekly running programme which adds a little confusion on to why they need a Champion. A Trophy would perhaps have been more suitable. Also, the talent list isn't anywhere near as strong as it could have been. No Zack Sabre Jr is also quite confusing. I also would have opted for a London venue such as Bethnal Green Hall as opposed to Blackpool.

I wish them all the best with it.
It does have a feeling and vibe of something I thought about awhile ago...

What is the point of this? WWE loves doing little tournaments on the network. I'm interested in seeing how the championship plays out after the tournament though. Considering it's not a developmental title, I wonder if the champion will end up on the WrestleMania card... If not, would it be the first time that a (non-developmental) champion in WWE has ever been left off Mania? I know sometimes champs have been on the pre-show, but have they ever not wrestled at all?

These tournaments just don't appeal to me. I'm sure the matches will be fantastic, but everyone knows that the only way a guy will win is if he's already agreed to a contract with the WWE prior to winning the tourney. That alone takes away a great deal of suspense.
