I want to start customizing again. On my old custom figures, I would always get brush strokes over my customs. How could I prevent this? I've seen other guys have perfect customs that seemed like they were factory made.

I paint with a brush myself, but I've seen other guys tape up the whole figure except for the area they're painting. So if you're painting the trunks, you cover the whole figure with tape, only leaving the trunks exposed. Then you spray paint. And I assume you would use a spray sealer too. I've never done this myself, but it looks really nice.

lol no sounds like you are using cheap brushes and too much paint. ive never used tape, dont use spray paint, it runs badly, i never use sealer....if you paint it correctly you dont need sealer unless you are playing with them.

Hope this isn't considered a necropost-
Sounds like you have to thin your paint. Thinning your paint lets it self-level (lay flat), so any brushmarks will hopefully fade before it dries.
What kind are you using? You can use the cheap acrylic paints in the squeeze bottles, but you have to thin those a lot.
Most brands of paint will also have their own thinner available. You don't have to use theirs specifically, but it's recommended. Acrylic Thinner is basically just acrylic paint without the pigment (color) in it.
I use Liquitex's Airbrush Medium for everything.
You can use water to thin acrylics, but they lose some bonding power and may not cover well.
Also, good painting technique is important. Don't keep brushing over the same area repeatedly, that just increases the risk you'll tear up the paint. Paint an area, let it cure, then you can paint over it again.
Keeping your brush damp (not wet) also helps.
As you work, remember to completely rinse the brush once the bristles start stiffening.

I'm new to customizing and I didn't really know there was a difference. I was able to get a flat look on my Rollins custom with them though.

Cool, what brand of paint was it? I've had good results with Folk Art's stuff, didn't need to thin it, just kept my brush damp.
