This is the only way they know how to get heat for heels anymore. The way WWE has been going the last few years I'd say the best way they can get heat on their heels is turning them babyface. Another thing I just thought of too was that with Smackdown at MSG last night, a sizable portion of one of their largest markets wasn't even watching last night. It would be ok if they used this segment to build a hot program. But it was basically a throw away segment to fill some time and hype a throw away match on a throw away show.

It got me. When I was watching it I loved the segment with Bayley and Goldust, it touched the heart. The Good Brothers did what they are told. I get Codys reaction, but it is what it is.

I have a HUGE problem with this segment! It was utterly ridiculous and highly offensive...just not for the exact reasons Cody would feel that way. Its offensive because its lazy ing booking. WWE ed The Club up and has made them a complete and utter joke. In an effort to try and draw cheap heat....they went with this teddy bear angle, a milder version of Orton telling Rey that Eddie is in hell or Punk/"Paul Bearer's ashes". That being said, as someone who has lost their father, I can absolutely sympathize with Cody and understand his disappointment/anger towards this. I may not agree...but definitely understand. As far as getting Dustin's permission....maybe they asked, but I doubt this is something that WWE gives 2 craps if he wants to do it or not. They will "talk" Dustin into it if they are set on doing it.

I don't see the big deal, honestly. I mean, it's not like they destroyed Dusty's personal vehicle and told one of his best friends he's in hell.

I do think Cody is over reacting a bit, but I also think it was in poor taste and not really needed. If they HAD to do it, at least give Dustin the pin in the match, and then do a post match tribute to Dusty or something.
I think what bothers me, is that if they had just left it at him getting the bear without Gallows and Anderson doing what they did, it would have been a legitimately nice and heartwarming segment around the holidays. That is where it hurts me the most.

WWE has made me roll my eyes enough times in recent years, that this is not a shocker at all. Like others have said, it's lazy writing/booking. If they had wanted to fix their mistakes with The Club, they had their shot when the two "ruined" The Dudleys farewell address. Of course they gave up on that immediately, and moved on to other things. So to do this, when it's pretty obvious The Club isn't going to move up the ladder anytime soon, is pointless.
And did Cody say anything else on the matter? I'm not sure why people feel he's over reacting with his simple tweet.

I think because it's Dusty, they should have left it alone. I'm sure they convinced themselves that Dusty would have loved it. That's sort of the problem I have with it. That mixed with what marino said about it being Cody's first Christmas without his father. Man, there are a million ways to get heat. Talking about someone's dead parent, a guy the wrestling world absolutely ing loved mind you, isn't the way to do it. Especially since it happened this year. Maybe if this was 5 years from now, it would be more of a heel gimmick than a distasteful move, but I just thought it was tacky. I thought Paige talking about Reid Flair was probably the most disgusting thing they'd done in recent memory and this was right up there with that move. The PB thing was an actual angle and they got permission from the family. And Taker beat Punk to defend his honor. It's apples to oranges. Especially since Goldust is at the bottom of the card, and The Club doesn't get anything out of beating or even losing to them. Goldust is 47 years old. What is this really going to do for his character? I can see The Club retiring Truth and Goldust out of the whole deal but even that wouldn't be worth it imo. I think Vince views wrestling like comedians do comedy where nothing is off limits if he thinks it's funny. He's from a different era too where people wrote things like sexism, racism, and ageism off as people being p*ssies. So I'm not surprised. I do feel bad for Cody though. He said on Colt's podcast that he'll probably never be over the loss of his father and that he was no better at that moment over his passing than when it happened. That's real life. Not just some guy you watch on TV. Any of you in that same exact situation would be hurt.

Not that it makes it better, but some of you guys math is off. Dusty died in June of 2015. Its been a year and a half, not this year. Theyve done 2 tag team classics, a bronze statue, etc.
Im mad it wont amount to anything as well, but dont act like its Codys first christmas without his dad.
Bayley should give them both suplexes

Because to some people WWE can do no wrong and if you dare bash them you become public enemy number one. With you it feels like wwe can do nothing right. You seriously just need to stop with this crap, we know you are a Ufc fan and hate the wwe.

So weird in 2016 (almost 2017) people think a prelim guy like GoldDust is going to overrule Vince's script or complain in public about it. To be fair though while Goldust is a "prelim guy" on the card at the moment, he has a 20+ year history of working closely with Vince and being at odds with Vince. In the Attitude Era Goldust was a legit main event star for a while. I'm sure Vince has a lot of respect for Goldust and his opinion. I'm sure Goldust OKed the segment and was fine doing it. I still agree that it was in poor taste though, given that most likely nothing will come of it.

Are we really making a big deal over a heel tag team ripping the head of a teddy bear in a segment that both Goldust and Bayley were OK with?

Superstar Billy Graham is also very unhappy with the angle. But to be fair, he's up there with Jim Cornette. If they ain't complaining, they ain't happy sorta thing.
