It's awful to hear she didn't make it. Such a strong woman. R.I.P.

Man, what a terrible year. So many losses over and over. This one is a bad one.
Carrie Fisher will be tremendously missed.

I'm in utter shock. She was so iconic as Leia in Star Wars and an amazing person in general. It's such a shame she didn't make it, but I really hope she had. RIP

R.I.P. Carrie Fisher.
As I said in the SW thread this has been the celebrity death in 2016 that has been the most difficult for me BY FAR. You just cant underestimate the impact of losing one of these beloved people that you grew up with.

R.I.P. Carrie Fisher. As I said in the SW thread this has been the celebrity death in 2016 that has been the most difficult for me BY FAR. You just cant underestimate the impact of losing one of these beloved people that you grew up with. I feel the same way. Some big losses this year, but also some big names that genuinely weren't a big part of my life so I didn't feel much of an impact. Like George Michael. He had some good songs and was a cool guy but I wouldn't call myself a fan, as much as it is still a terrible loss for those who are fans. But Carrie was the biggest this year for me. I've seen people say that they don't understand how others can get upset at celebrity deaths but I just can't understand why they would think that. Star Wars has been a thing for my whole life, even going right back into my own mother's childhood. Whether I watch the films, collect the figures, play the videogames and everything in between, Leia and therefore Carrie have been an integral part of some of my favourite hobbies. You can't not feel like a part of you has died when they do so themselves. It's the same when our favourite musicians or wrestlers die too. They were part of our everyday lives so of course we will miss them.

Went to see Rogue One for the second time last night and that Leia scene at the end gave me goosebumps more than it did the first viewing. The whole place popped so hard you couldn't even hear her line.

It's funny how she'll be always remembered for Star Wars but nobody will remember her for being in The Blues Brothers

I think the WFigs forums should make a RIP thread. Seriously, anyone would be lucky to live in 2017

It's funny how she'll be always remembered for Star Wars but nobody will remember her for being in The Blues Brothers I have spoken about her numerous times this week about her role in The Blues Brothers (one of my fave movies) and so have a lot of folks I know..... I think its only Natural for people to remember her as Leia. She was a pop culture icon as Leia. I loved her in Blues Brothers, The Burbs & Austin Powers.....brilliant she was.

I've seen Blues Brothers once years ago but honestly forgot she was in it. I mostly forget who was in a lot of films if I haven't watched it a few times to be fair (if they're not lead characters of course.) Though I will remember Carrie for her cameo in Big Bang Theory. That episode with James Earl Jones is one of my favourites and love the scene where he knocks on her door and runs away. "It's not funny any more James!" "Then why am I still laughing?"

absolutely crazy, R.I.P Carrie Fisher, a magnificent actor, loved her performances in the Star Wars movies.

I just realized we lost Princess Leia, R2-D2 & Admiral Ackbar all in the same year.

After seeing the HBO documentary on Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher....I'm not surprised they both died. Carrie Fisher smoked and drank soda 24/7, and they were completely dependent on one another. It was actually really really sad seeing them like that.

I just realized we lost Princess Leia, R2-D2 & Admiral Ackbar all in the same year. Don't forget he also voiced Bib Fortuna. I believe the voice actor behind Boba Fett passed in 2016 as well.
