Hopefully it is the final chapter.. several key characters wont be returning.. I guess to make way for such talented stars like Ruby Rose...eye roll...
This movie is going to be a mess like the entire franchise... ill see it.. but thank heavens it is almost over.

The "Final" Chapter.
I'm reminded of Friday the 13th, where the final chapter had eight more chapters after it.

Just from a story stand point, in the world that this movie series "crafted"... it makes no goddamn sense.
Maybe they'll address the absences of the "team" they assembled at the end of the last film, which DIDN'T include Claire Redfield, but included Leon, Jill, and Ada in Washington, DC.... and how are they going BACK to Raccoon city? Wasn't basically all of the Earth wiped out over the course of this crummy series? AND didn't Ian Glenns' character die in like the 3rd movie?
God, this series sucks.

These really are a jumbled mess. It was one thing to make a totally new character to center the series around, but was it really necessary to make them a boring, wire kung-fu super hero?
And I'm sure they'll sloppily wipe up the loose end of the team pretty quickly with a random action sequence to start the movie off. I wouldn't even be shocked if they kill off every lead character from the games early on, just to emphasize that "this is it", and make it strictly about Alice.

I enjoyed the first and second one, yeah they aren't great, but it was fine for what they are. The third one was ok. I didn't care for the fourth. Was there a fifth? Or is the "final" one the fifth? Eh, I'll still see it just to finish off the series.
Mila is sexy though.

Resident Evil Resident Evil Apocalypse Resident Evil Extinction Resident Evil Afterlife Resident Evil Retribution Resident Evil The Final Chapter I often mix up the titles on 4 & 5 though. Part 3 was the one in the wastelands, 4 was the one where I think they're in a prison at some point, and 5 was when they're in that outbreak simulation facility. Mila is indeed a babe, but it's sad that her incoherent, babbling character in Fifth Element was far more likable than anything she did as Alice. I guess when the director is your hubby, you get to flip kick zombie dogs into oblivion, and make the menacing Nemesis monster go soft for a piece of that ass. There's still some enjoyment to be taken from the movies. And sadly, the actual Resident Evil games went batsh*t crazy themselves with absurd stories, so it's not like the later films destroyed anything sacred. But the general premise of RE 1 though Code Veronica could have made for a good series of movies if they had followed the source material better. And I always hated how popular characters from the games were forced into essentially cameo roles.

The first two were decent, everything after has been garbage. I hate how they handled Nemesis. I hate how they handled every game character actually. I'll watch this one once it's out on demand just to see how awful it is.
If there is one game to movie series that needs a reboot, a proper reboot, it's this one.

It appears that I'm the only one here that sorta digs all the RE movies. I will probably catch this one once it's out on blu ray.

LOL totally agree with the hubby part and Nemesis.

My only real hope with this film is that it truly is the final film in this series.
I think judging them in a vacuum, ignoring the RE name, still leaves you with tons of complaints. Sure, it's mindless action, but it's a mess. I actually think retconning the RE characters into the film later on in the series is more insulting than had they just left them out. Jill seems to be the only character they kind of got right. To be fair, I liked Leon, but he was in the worst actual film of the franchise. I like 1 and 4. I like parts of the other films, but I just want this to be over.
I think the reality of the situation is that Paul Anderson really wishes he would have created the Matrix. So the next best thing was making his wife Neo, and just ripping off all of the action sequences to the best of his ability, all the while piecing together parts of a video game world he didn't understand or respect. I love the Mortal Kombat movie, and Event Horizon is still one of my very favorite horror flicks ever, but the guy is a hack action director. So it just is what it is to me at this point. Not worth getting upset about, but I wish there were better RE movies in the world.
I'll wait until I can watch this for free. If a mindless action flick is getting my money at the theater this month, it's going to be Underworld.

LOL totally agree with the hubby part and Nemesis. RIGHT! With that random former basketball player fella who "dies" but doesn't die, only to come back in the next film... and die. LOL, these movies are atrocious.

It's worth noting that I never played any of the games so I see the movies on their own merit. They aren't classics by any means but I found all of them enjoyable. It doesn't hurt that I am a huge fan of Milla. I plan to see this one in the threatres. As video game adaptations go, all I can say is that any of the Resident Evil movies makes the Rock's Doom look like a steaming pile of doggy doo doo. And let's not even talk about the Mario brothers movie.

Wasn't the series about zombies? I never understood all these mutated monsters that came into the series The original story of the game was that Umbrella was doing illegal testing with the T-Virus. That caused animals, insects, and humans to be exposed. The longer the exposure to the T-Virus, could cause mutation depending on which variant of the virus you were injected with. Which is what spawned all of the creatures like Tyrant, Lickers, Nemesis, etc... The movies did a pretty horrible job explaining this, at least to me they did

I love the games (up until RE6 which frankly sucked) but these movies suck big time. I like the first one, and the second wasn't too bad, but the whole Alice character took the threat of "zombies" out of this series as she has been portrayed as a superhero and OP compared to the zombies and mutated monsters. Nothing resembles anything from the games besides character designs and names.
I've always felt that these movies kept getting maid for three reasons...
1) Easy cash grab 2) A way for director Paul Anderson to stay employed 3) A way for his below average acting-wife, Mila Jovavich, to stay employed
I'm praying this is truly the end and it's rebooted to resemble the games more closely.

Those 3 reasons are pretty spot on. Most people can't name another movie that Mila Jovavich was in besides the Resident Evil series
