Yeah, I said it. I see him demanded all the time. Don't get me wrong. He deserves a figure no doubt. But I feel like people make him out to be way more than he was. He was never in the A-list of top stars at any point in his career. And before anyone has an ulcer, this is not an attack on Owen as a person or anything like that.
I basically see the situation as the Kurt Cobain effect. In other words, someone dies and their work is revered to a level that far exceeds what would have been had that person lived. The difference here is Nirvana actually was actually a huge band. But they still get more praise than is really necessary. In this case, once again, Owen was never over like Stone Cold, HBK, Bret, etc. He was a mid-carder more years than not.
I don't mean this as disrespect (although it will obviously be taken as so). I just feel like it has become a bandwagon on here to demand an Owen figure. I think he will eventually get one and everyone will lose their shyt. But I would totally bet that had he lived, he wouldn't have been revered the way he is and his figure would never sell or be demanded strongly if Mattel took their time to make him.
I gues what I'm saying is, I won't lose sleep if we don't get an Owen figure. And I imagine there are others here who feel the same way. But, this place seems to mimic social media sometimes in the sense that if you say something unpopular or non-pc, you get destroyed. Oh well.

I see where you are coming from but totally disagree.
Owen never quite made it as a main event heel or face. I think that falls on WWE for not developing his character enough.
In terms of in ring performers for the time period, I put him up there with Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Mr Perfect.

I think his death created a level of hype/praise that he could have never achieved alive.

I don't think he's overrated at all. Many of his peers have commented on what a tremendous athlete he was (some even saying he was better than Bret) and due to his unfortunate death there's no telling how big (or not) he could've gotten. Ive only watched a few of his matches (not a whole lot to call myself a fan of his) as I didn't watch wrestling religiously till 2001 but I thought they were pretty good. There are multiple reasons why people want an Owen figure such as: - fans thought he was great - he hasn't had a figure since the Jakks BCA Blue Blazer - complete the 1997 Hart Foundation - complete WWF New Generation era collections
I know you consider your opinion unpopular and I'm completely unbiased but you have to consider wrestling skill in order to determine if a wrestler is overhyped or not lol. And it's completely understandable why people want a figure of his.

Owen, was better than Bret, and was held back because of what Bret did in his last months in WWF. I have never heard one single bad thing about Owen Hart, so that should tell you something right here. I mean go ahead and look for someone trashing Owen ... you won't find it.
He isn't 'over hyped', the guy was gold. He was an honest man and did everything for his family and from everyone that has ever said anything about him, seemed to always lift people's spirits.
How could you say that someone like that is 'over rated or hyped'?
Now, I do get it from the aspect of 'wanting an action figure just because' , but for the majority of us that want one, it's for the fact that he DESERVES one, not because we selfishly want one.
One day, it will happen and I do believe that Bill will be the one that brings it to us. I also believe that it will take the passing of Martha for it to get the ball rolling. I do completely understand where she's coming from, but she is doing nothing for Owen's legacy, that people want to bring to light, by being the way that she's been over the past 20 years.
I would love to see Owen get inducted into the HOF, have his memories and matches out there for people to enjoy, but Martha has it all on lock down. I'm sure Bret wants his brothers memory to stay alive and to be recognized, but it could be years before that's a reality.
However, I'm sure that one day, Triple H and his staff will make it happen, just takes time.

If he had lived you're right, an Owen figure wouldn't be that big of a deal. It's the fact that since the BCA days we've had nothing.
And anyone who watched in the early-mid 90's knows Owen Hart was great. He couldn't hang (not in the ring obviously) with those main players in the Attitude Era, but he was still loved, or loved to be hated or laughed at. Basically he mattered
I would love to have Owen from '94?-95? and then one to go with that 96-97 Hart Foundation they started That would be plenty for me
plus the way people lose their shyt over a Ken Shamrock, Flyin Brian, Tatanka and others like that, if Owen was alive and retired, people would still love to have him

As far as I'm concerned he's a glaring omission. Part of that is because of his death, his family won't sign his rights and still has bag blood with WWE. So yeah if he lived he'd probably have a figure and it'd be no big deal. But he didn't, things suck between the two parties and he's a huge omission for wrestling fans of that era like myself as far as I'm concerned.

One of the best wrestlers ever imo. He was my favorite at the time of his passing. From Stampede to Japan to WWF his matches were always fun to watch. Was a great heel character as well.

Kevin Owens named his kid Owen after Owen. So did I. Luckily for me, my son's older. So I can't be blamed for ripping him off.

I don't think he is overrated. A lot of people want a figure of him. But I've never heard him mentioned in a conversation about great wrestlers. Who, besides this wrestling figure forum is rating him so high?

Kevin Owens named his kid Owen after Owen. So did I. Luckily for me, my son's older. So I can't be blamed for ripping him off. I tried too,was always my plan, but my sister in law had a kid 1st and named him Rowan! I was like hmm mm I guess that's why she kept their name choice a secret! We would of still named him Owen if the family wasn't so close and always hung out together.

How does demanding a figure of him make him overrated? I don't see people on here going "Owen is the greatest wrestler of his generation, give him a figure" or even "Owen was one of the best of all time so he deserves a figure." I see more often than not comments that generally state something like "Owen is missing from my collection and I wish a figure of him was possible." At this point he is the most glaring omission from the New Gen and Attitude eras. I can't think of one guy from these eras without a figure already made that would be better than Owen. He may never have been the top guy but was always one of the more entertaining guys on the roster. You always paid attention when he was on TV no matter what angle he was in.

We wound up naming our son Luke. Then the next year the Wyatt family made their debut with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. Now we have our own Wyatt family lol. I think I just highjacked this thread, oops.

Not overrated. He was a great performer. (Not better than Bret lol) I want him because I was a fan of his. I think it is hard to call someone overrated because you may not care for them or their figure while others do. Even going as far mentioning people jumping on the "bandwagon" seems off or wrong to me. People should be allowed to want who they want as a fan. As fans we all wont like the same wrestlers, attires, etc.

Had he not died in that accident he would be first-ballot hall-of-famer like literally he had done everything you could do was going to win the Intercontinental Championship again albeit as the blue blazer but everyone knew it was Owen... and who's to say that that run with the IC belt wouldn't have been iconic because of the way he could portray any character... I compared him to Cody Rhodes in the ring Cody was amazing on the mic Cody was amazing any gimmick they put on Cody Cody made work... The same can be said about Owen and had he not died the potential matches he could have had in the future would have been crazy...
