Owen had a lot of memorable moments. I think he would have moved past the Blue Blazer thing and had a solid finish to his career.

I've seen a lot of people in this thread basically discrediting Owen's career because he broke Austin's neck.
1) I've heard Austin say his neck wasn't really broken. It was a bad stinger and he was taken out of the ring for precautionary reasons.
2) Austin's neck injury wasn't caused by Owen being reckless or untalented. It was a fluke accident. When they got in position for the move, Austin was too low on Owen's body. Due to the positioning it was hard to see. They basically misjudged the height they needed while they were in the ring and Austin started the move like an inch too far down.

Yeah, Austin actually did THE EXACT SAME MOVE to Masa Chono and broke his neck.

Anyone that thinks Owen is overrated either isn't a fan of the style of wrestler he was, or they weren't alive when he was in his prime. In the 80s his working style was so ahead of it's time, it simply didn't even work in the United States. He had to go to Japan and establish himself before he was basically welcome back in America. By the time he came back his skills were off the chart and better than the majority of talent working in America. When he was in the WWF in 89 as the Blue Blazer, his high flying moves were off the chart. His moveset was so different it made him stick out like a sore thumb. Then there's the whole feud with Bret, which is one of the best of the entire decade of the 1990s. Overrated? C'mon man, not even close!

Owen, was better than Bret, and was held back because of what Bret did in his last months in WWF. I have never heard one single bad thing about Owen Hart, so that should tell you something right here. I mean go ahead and look for someone trashing Owen ... you won't find it. He isn't 'over hyped', the guy was gold. He was an honest man and did everything for his family and from everyone that has ever said anything about him, seemed to always lift people's spirits. How could you say that someone like that is 'over rated or hyped'? Now, I do get it from the aspect of 'wanting an action figure just because' , but for the majority of us that want one, it's for the fact that he DESERVES one, not because we selfishly want one. One day, it will happen and I do believe that Bill will be the one that brings it to us. I also believe that it will take the passing of Martha for it to get the ball rolling. I do completely understand where she's coming from, but she is doing nothing for Owen's legacy, that people want to bring to light, by being the way that she's been over the past 20 years. I would love to see Owen get inducted into the HOF, have his memories and matches out there for people to enjoy, but Martha has it all on lock down. I'm sure Bret wants his brothers memory to stay alive and to be recognized, but it could be years before that's a reality. However, I'm sure that one day, Triple H and his staff will make it happen, just takes time. Great post, buddy.

'Past board member' I'm assuming? 🤔 Previously Banned Muchacho? Well, we all know the OP was just trolling, but Owen was always one of my "boys"(as they say in OSW review), you knew he could wrestle anyone on the card, but he was never going to be world champion, especially with The Nose's rise to power in the years following his death. I'm sure there would've been dynamite matches with Benoit, Angle, Jericho, and Guerrero though. I hope one day she comes around and signs a deal for the fans(like the ones took him to arenas and airports and fed him), and not for the WWE.

Bret has said many times tha own didn't take wrestling seriously. That's almost the same as breaking the cardinal rule of wrestling - protect your opponent. Owen was kinda immature in a way. It WAS an accident but it WAS ALSO Owen's 'fault' (misjudging something is just the same - or would you rather blame the mat for being too close when brock did his idiotic moonsault. Maybe it was the turnbuckle's fault?) This ed austin up huge - i don't what nonsense you're talking about but Austin STILL to this day even after Owen has been DEAD for so long - that POS scumbag Ausin STILL holds a grudge against him. Most likely because Austin's big run was like 3 yrs people. LMFAO. 3 Years? No wonder no cares about him anymore. Yeah his knees were crap but when you look at the big picture ALL of his injuries forced him out of a one of a kind Mega Star run WAY too early. and just for the record - the best match we ever could have seen never got to happen. Wrestlemania WWE Champion Kurt Angle defending against both hart brothers. Make no mistake Owen was better than Bret. Their individual maturity towards the business is what made them different. No one says a bad word about him because he's dead but not every one in wrestling thinks as kindly towards Owen as you think. He wasn't a dick or douche or backstabber but his pranks/ribs were not very well liked as his lack of seriousness about the business was a HUGE strike against him (something I'm sure trips used against him behind the scenes...).

Honestly, I remember playing with my figures and Owen's BCA was ALWAYS in contention for the IC title. I was a huge Owen fan, even as a 10 year old kid. I mimicked his spinning heel kick when I wrestled my wrestling buddies haha. And honestly, one of my all time favorite tag teams is him and Bulldog.
