I still think Taker vs. Strowman is happening at Wrestlemania, after seeing Strowman look at Taker on Raw from the back on a monitor.

Strowman vs. Taker would be an incredible waste of Taker at Mania. Thats not a knock on Braun but c'mon — Taker vs. Cena, Taker vs. AJ, Taker vs. Rollins, etc... Theres so many better matchups they could put Taker in at Mania. And he's not getting any younger.

But it goes to show how bad Vince wants to put Braun over and push him as the new big man in WWE. It's not like Taker, Kane or Big Show are getting any younger.

Braun isnt being built as the next Taker, Kane or Big Show though. They're practically building him as the next Lesnar. Last thing we need is more guys that just go over everyone.

I would watch WM just to see Taker vs. Cena, hope the match is still on and Vince finally pulls the trigger on turning Cena heel.

I'm hoping the rumors of them wanting a killer main event after seeing Omega/Okada is true. They no doubt have the roster to pull some great stuff off right now, they just have to you know... actually go through with it.

Biggest mistake he could possible make is preventing this match from happening.
I don't get super kid-like excited anymore for wrestling.. Very rarely do I get that giddy with excitement feeling and anticipation.. But hearing this match was finally about to happen gave me that feeling.. And now I don't anticipate Wrestle-mania like I would have.. It won't be a priority for me come the day.

I cannot stand the Undertaker and have never liked him, but I will admit, that this is one match I was hoping to see.
So many ways the Rumble can go down this year. I could see Cena winning the belt and Undertaker winning the Rumble as one scenario. Then that match would at mania would still be unpredictable, would Undertaker take the title off Cena, ect.
But. Just look at who could win this Rumble...Goldberg, Undertaker, Strowman, Jericho, Rollins (unlikely, but always that chance), Balor. Or they could swerve everyone and have a new star win out of the blue Samoa Joe, Nakamura ect.

You can't trust the sheets, but they were rumoring Strowman vs Undertaker last year. I have no interest in it, and have no confidence that 51 year old Undertaker can take Strowman to a Wrestlemania-worthy match. Cena/Undertaker needs to happen. Hogan/Austin is never happening. AJ/Michaels is never happening. Bryan/Michaels is never happening. Undertaker/Sting is never happening. Hogan/Cena is never happening. Undertaker/Cena could happen. We don't need to add another dream match to the 'is never happening' list after Taker hangs it up forever. There are plenty of possibilities, and although I don't think Cena is ever turning heel, retiring the Undertaker in a title vs career match would be an awesome way to do it.
As for Strowman, if they want a new Lesnar, the right guy to topple Brock is Samoa Joe. Long grueling match, he goes up for the F5, slips out the back, and chokes him out. I don't see Strowman in one of those grueling, competitive matches. Strowman looks more like the next Big Show. He might have a long, annoying career where he turns 37 times, eventually long wears out his welcome, and occasionally jobs to Spike Dudley...or James Ellsworth, the modern day Spike Dudley.

Why do people take speculation as fact? Unless it's something said by one of the wrestlers, or someone who's actually part of WWE, I wouldn't trust anything spread by dirtsheets. Like newspapers, they're likely just throwing anything they can to see what sticks.

I honestly don't believe Taker is gonna end his career with a final match against Strowman. So either this is a red herring or this won't be Undertaker's final mania.

We are counting Dave Meltzer as a dirtsheet?

I'm not of the mindset that this match has to happen. Personally I would be okay with Cena vs AJ being dragged out till WM. Let AJ hold the title till then. Or let Cena win it at the RR and set the rematch for WM. That way we're guaranteed that AJ will have a high profiled match.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Balor vs Taker with Taker's career on the line. Have it be booked as two guys who respect each other, but the young lion wants to see where he stands. Mid-way through the match, we see Gallows/Anderson interfere helping Balor get the victory. Then the next night on RAW, have Balor bask in the fact he retired the Dead Man. WWE's version of the Bullet will be in full force.
Having Strowman vs Taker only makes sense if Taker is losing and leaving. Because a loss to Taker now would ruin all the WWE has built up for Braun. His stature of the new monster would be tarnished.

Meltz' said that taker vs Cena isnoff the books and that Strowman vs Taker is just a red herring. What does that mean? Does that mean we're getting Taker vs Goldberg? Or maybe a brock rematch? Or AJ?

The article I read similar to this said Braun vs Taker isn't the match that is happening either.

And now I don't anticipate Wrestle-mania like I would have.. It won't be a priority for me come the day. I agree with this. This match would have brought a ton of buzz. I was picturing myself watching the match with my heart pounding out of my chest pulling for Taker. Last time I had that feeling for a match was Sting vs Triple H, since Sting is my favorite of all time. Taker is 3 behind Austin. Regarding his match, the other reports have said that he won't be in a title match and his opponent will NOT be Strowman. Reigns? Perhaps Owens retains and has a program with Jericho or Balor for Mania. Reigns beating Taker would be cringeworthy unless he turns heel. I think people can accept Cena beating him into retirement. But baby face Roman Reigns would just be another sad attempt at trying to get him over.

I would have spent any amount of cash to see Undertaker v. Cena with "The Streak" on the line. The intensity, drama, and downright uneasiness that match would have produced would have been unthinkable.
