The constant running around lately for the Walmart exclusives has gotten me thinking why do I run around and spend all this money on these figures. Ive collected since the 80s and have 100s and 100s of figures. Wrestling,GI Joe, He Man, Marvel, and DC plus so may more. I will never stop and absolutely love it so it got me thinking why. Ive come up with these reasons:
I still get excited when I see something new on the peg. It keeps me connected to my youth. I love wrestling way too much.
Id be interested hearing why so many of us collect. I dont remember seeing any thread about this so if this is a duplication sorry.

Something i have always done and it creates kind of an escape. I enjoy reading about the wrestling community and going hunting for things. Like you said it kind of keeps a part of my youth around also.

Basically those reasons.
Figures are awesome these days. Equal parts detail and articulation. I've been an action figure guy since I was 5 years old.
The hunt and the gratifying find is very rewarding, even if it is a waste of gas. Buying online takes that experience away.
I have kids now. I want to amass a collection so that when they're a bit older can enjoy the badassery of it.

It's fun, gets me out of the house, and makes me think of different ways to find things, or display them, or take photos etc... It's a hobby for me. I like the challenges associated as well; Taking good photos that people like, finding stuff at retail first, the challenge of getting my favorite figure signed, then figuring out how to display and light em up on the shelf. Rinse & Repeat as new characters come out. Finding stuff for people who are having troubles, providing an Instagram with the latest news and updates with the latest places to buy a new product. Admin for 2 Facebook pages where you can raffle off items, buy, sell, trade, or simply discuss
For me it's more than just buying a toy and opening it, or keeping it moc, it's all the other stuff around it that keeps it fresh and entertaining as well

I've found that I'm going to throw away a certain amount of money on crap every month regardless of whether or not I'm collecting. Action figure collecting is fun and it gives me a reason to save my money and something to look forward to. When I've stopped collecting, my first thought was always "I've got all this money to spend now!" and ended up spending even more of it. So, in some ways I spend less when collecting action figures. It also takes me back to my youth, keeps me interested in wrestling, and gives me a reason to hang out here.

A few reasons.
- The thrill of the hunt or the excitement of getting new stuff in the mail. It's satisfying to see something announced, wait for the release, order it or find it at a store, then have it. It's like the circle of life for toys.
- The community. Right here on these boards we complain about stuff, we fight with each other a lot, we exchange ideas. But at the end of the day we are sharing a love for the same hobby.

I live in Canada, so now I mainly collect figures out of anger and contempt.
Elite 39 anyone??
Plus I like the idea of paying out more money than I need to when buying from the USA.
These are the reasons why I still collect I guess, because I don't have the foggiest other ideas as to why I am still doing it.

I collect because that feeling of the hairs on my arms and neck standing on end never went away since the first time I heard Warriors music hit. That first note of his entrance theme still has that exact effect on me as it did when I was 5. Having his figures reminds me of being 5 and reminds me of the goosebumps feeling I get when I hear the theme. So in summary I collect to hold on to that feeling I got, and still get from Warrior.

I've collecting toys for ever. I'm nearly 29 years old and don't see a stop sign ahead. Mattel has angered me at times, even causing me to sell everything. But I came back. They managed to win me over last year. I said it with Jakks, When they are done, I'm done. But I truely feel after Mattel's contract is up and WWE moves on to a new company, thats when my wrestling collecting will end.
I do collect beyond Wrestling.

Basically, because I love action-figures and I love wrestling - I still get excited/feel like a kid when new figures are announced or shown... long may it continue!

My reasons are pretty much the same as the others. It brings me back to my childhood because certain figures bring back memories. I don't buy every figure that comes along, only a VERY select few, so I enjoy the thrill of the hurt at retail & the anticipation of rounding the corner at my local Wal-Mart or other stores & seeing whether or not there's something new or if that certain figure I'm looking for is there. Sure, I can always buy online & most of the time I do because there's just something about getting them in the mail & unboxing them that's also a treat.

Childhood memories and I can relive it simply by looking at them.
Bottom line, I love it and it's a physical time piece for me.
