These abominations are taking up nearly 80% of Target peg space. Forget about the near elite price point and still remain horrified at the waste of a budget that has gone into these.
You want to release mutants? Fine....you want to do Turtle superstars, ok.
These garbage talking superstars (some without even using correct voices) must be burning up big time budget $$ costs that should be dedicated to elites which will always outsell those talkers.

Each line has its own individual budget, so secondary lines like the talkers, mutants, etc don't impact the basic or elites one way or the other. They're not my cup of tea, but they seem to be selling decently in my area.

Agreed, Target has become a wasteland outside of the HOF series

First, as always, that's not how the budget for lines works. Second, how are these "abominations"? These are actually a lot closer to the look, feel, and scale of the basic and elite figures than the Zombies, Mutants, Retro, and Ninja Superstars are. And last, there is ALWAYS a line that is targeted towards the younger audience. Flex Force, Flex Force Lightning, Rumblers, Slam City, Super Strikers, Create-a-Superstar, Brawlin' Buddies, etc.

I think that the talking figures is a fine idea to please children. Toy, after all, are meant for kids. I know that eventually all of those talking figures will end up in the clearance bins anyway. Instead though we got basic Cenas that we could assemble for mattel.

This is just the next gimmick line to be clearanced and cancelled, and it will be replaced with another one. I wonder how much of the cost the retailers have to just eat when they can't give these things away.

Honestly, WWE in general is failing at my Target. Outside of one elite Sasha Banks and a couple of Braun Strowman basics, nothing has moved. I can't believe that Ultimate Maniacs Macho Man has been sitting for as long as he has. Two of them! I think Amazon killed the big box guys when it comes to collectibles.

Well, when you constantly have new stuff, and everywhere else has e32, e36 and e39...that happens lol. Amazon is awesome.

Mattel knows what sells. I don't know why they make all this other stuff that has a long history of rotting on shelves.
Basics, elites, battle packs. That is what sells.
Tough talkers, flexforce, slam city, mutants, zombies, cmonnnn man.

The only problem I have with these is that the voices are not real for Austin, Brock, and Undertaker. If they can't get them to record lines, or they don't want to use clips from TV, then they should avoid those characters. Unfortunately, that would prevent them from making some of the WWE's biggest names.
I guess they are just banking on that kids don't know what Brock sounds like because he never talks, Austin is never on, and Taker is almost never on.

We should put this in a petition and if Mattel doesn't listen we all return our Tito Santanas.

Do be fair these "tough talkers" are probably Mattel's best "gimmick" figures as they are hollowed out basics that talk with batteries inside.
They still have all the functionality and articulation of basic figures for the most part.
Are they overpriced and will the line fail ?? Yes, but Mattel's other gimmick lines have bombed harder and the retail stores keep asking for new ones.
So Mattel must be making it right with retailers after they have to mark down and get rid of the other crap to make way for the new.

Ummm, not wanting to get involved in wrestling figures politics, I'll just say that these figures are getting pushes by Target and Toys R Us in my area.
IMO, these are shelf warmers and I do not plan on picking these up at full retail or at clearnance prices.

When you waste money as a company on products that don't sell, you cut corners on the ones that do to make up the margins. See removal of elite waist pegs.
