Before I start yes I think they are a waste of budget and a complete flop. However would they be any more enticing if instead of superstars they only used managers? From Heyman to Heenan to Hart to Bearer to even Lana if would be pretty cool to have that extra element complete a stable or group as simply the mouthpiece.

The managers may be more enticing to you and I but probably would not interest hardly anyone at mass retail. I'm not sure I'd want them anyways. Just make those managers regular like jimmy hart and Bobby heenan. I don't want/need voices from my figs

Talkers are for kids. We shouldn't overthink this.

The whole point of them is for kids to be able to have their favourite wrestlers trash talk each other. Having managers from 30 years ago would not accomplish that.

I don't know why some members still think that the kid's line have ANYTHING to do with the budget of basics or elites. They have their OWN budget and doing anything with it will not go towards the Main line. That being said (& to add to the actual topic), I like the tough talker line and managers would be cool but ONLY if the actual manager does his own voice work for the figs. And that already eliminates a bit of them.

Ill never understand why we even create threads about anything other then Basics & Elites. Everything Mattel has come out with other than those 2 lines have flopped and ended up at Big Lots. I realize you cant use the budget from these lines towards the main lines but nothing ever comes from making these lines.

I think what most people dont understand when people complain about budgets is that INSTEAD of creating a whole new line with a budget, why not take that money and use it to make a bigger or better budget for the main lines. Mattel has to know going into these new lines that they are only going to last up to 4 or 5 series (most never get past 2 or 3). So why waste all that money on retooling and all the others costs going into a new sub line when it could go towards the ones that are actually selling and successful. Basics and elites are in the series 40s and 60s. what other subset as gone that far? the numbers dont lie.

They would be better if they were in the same scale as the Basic and Elite lines, but hey are larger which was the main issue I saw with them when I put the Seth next to a basic and Elite Seth figures. Other than that I have no issues with them. And even join they aren't scaled with the other lines I will still buy Triple H, Sting and Orton if made.

I personally dread all the lines aimed towards kids. I feel as if they could use that budget to make a new line (if Mattel HAS to come up with new lines) with the same style as Elites & Basics. Which would attract both kids & adult collectors. The only line aimed towards kids that I enjoyed & thought had A LOT of potential was the Create-A-Superstar figures (But of course they screwed that up almost completely). Personally, it wouldnt make a difference if they produced non-wrestling Tough Talkers. I can honestly see them shelf warming MUCH MORE than the current TTs.

Basics and elites are in the series 40s and 60s. what other subset as gone that far? the numbers dont lie. Mattel has to make lines aimed at kids, regardless if basics and elites are a success. They have to reach out to certain demographics. Almost every toy company does it. Marvel legends is a great line but it still has its Marvel Mashers and Playskool lines. If they were to cancel their kiddie lines, it doesn't mean they're going to pour more money into Marvel Legends, it's just gonna go to making NEW kiddie lines. Or that money goes nowhere.

Retailers would also have one peg of basics, one peg of elites, one peg of Trash Talkers, one peg of zombies, one peg of Mutants, one peg of Flex Force etc. than have 3 pegs of elites and 3 pegs of basics. More diverse product is a lot more appeasing to retailers

And we already have lines that attract kids and adult collectors, the Elite and basic line. And I do agree with you about the CaS line.
