I grew up with Hasbros so my first WWF action figure crossroads happened when Jakks released their bone-crunching action lineup. The scale difference was like a line drawn in the sand as integrating the new Jakks figures into my Hasbro universe just wasn't going to happen. At first I wasn't crazy about the BCA line, but over time the bigger figures and added articulation won me over.
My question is for those who grew up with LJN. When Hasbro took over, what did you think of the new figures? Were you a fan immediately? Did the smaller, more cartoony figures turn you off? Was it refreshing to finally have some articulation?
Appreciate any feedback.

Absolutely loved em. I remember the day my grandma brought me to TRU to look for new (LJNs) and we came across the first Hasbro series instead.
I did miss the LJNs though, and continued to play with (I was still kinda young) and collect both. LJNs remained my favorite.

I was 10 or 11 when the Hasbro line came out. I had already kind of stopped playing with them but I sort of collected them I'd say. Guess I'm partial to the big guys since I played with and beat the Hell out of them!!
Plus idk if it was due to scalping or what but I never could get hold of Andre, Dusty or any 2 packs except The Rockets, so that also put a damper on things for me

The one thing that stands out in my mind was that I loved the fact that the Hasbros had more playability. (For the time) You could do a body slam or you could move each figure where as the ljns didn't love at all. I was a fan of both lines to be honest. I hope Mattel attempts to release Ljn figs at some point.

I was in the corner of those that liked the LJN's better as the Hasbro's were too cartoony. But, over the years, I have grown to appreciate them.

Didn't get into LJNs until after Hasbros. The Hasbros were out by the time I got into WWF. I picked up at least 30 or so LJNs though at Flea Markets and yard sales as a kid. The only one I used with my Hasbros was Andre, and that was because at the time the size difference made sense to me. Always with prefer Hasbro. I think that just comes with them being out in the market and at stores at that time.

it was a pretty hard transition. WE're going from 8 inch unarticulated rubber wrestlers, with a more natural color.........to 4 inch hard plastic wrestlers...w/ minimal articulation and really blown out colors
I had a sizable LJN collection at the time, and a custom ring.
i remember when the Hasbros came out, my brother took me to a comic shop and bought me Andre and Jake the Snake.
then some time later i got the Ultimate Warrior (gorilla press) & Hulk Hogan (bearhug).
and that was it for me. After 4 figures, I hit the eject button. I would've been the prime target too, since i was 6-7 years old when these came out

I was born in 91 so I was too young for LJN and actually quite young for Hasbros. I can however remember my first action figure was the green Hasbro Warrior.
I started collecting wrestling figures when I was 8. So not only did I collect BCAs from Jakks but LJN and Hasbro. I thought it was odd how the scales were so completely different. Especially since I really wanted Jimmy Hart and he didn't fit in with either BCAs or Hasbro lol. Some guys didn't have any other figures than the LJN or Hasbro. Kamala, Slick, Heenan, Warlord, Repo Man and Koko were all guys I wanted. They never fit in with the current figures but I had a good imagination, I still played with them. I mean cmon the Monster Ring didn't fit the BCAs but a lot of us still bought it haha.

Didn't stop me from playing with it though. With the size of those figures, you could easily host an 80-man Battle Royal with plenty of legroom.

Right! Haha I remember buying it for about $7 at Kay Bee. I got it home and though it was awesome haha. The TTLs and RAs weren't too bad in it. The BCAs looked like minis though lol.
I just always found it funny the size difference between LJN and Hasbro. I mean, the BCAs weren't too far from Hasbro but them LJNs towered lol.

The nice thing about going from LJN to Hasbro was the fact there was a complete reset of the characters. Literally by the time LJN would get a character on the shelf, he may already be out of date or left the federation. The main guys you would see on TV didn't have figures yet.
I think Hasbro did a better job of keeping up and staying current. I never played with the Hasbro's, but I can tell you there's a lot of satisfaction in a rubber fist making contact with a rubber face... and body slams in that sling 'em fling 'em ring... priceless!

Andre was something of a grail figure back then, and I recall that price guides always had Koko B Ware as one of the most valuable figure in the line.

Going from one to the other was a crazy transition. They were so different in everything. Ljn were more realistic hasbro was more cartoon like. Ljn Big John Studd was my first wrestling figure ever so it holds a special place. Hasbro gave us that awesome ring. I collected both still have them all but i find myself looking at the Hasbros more so I guess thats my vote.

I just remember the first time I saw Hasbro series 1 I was just thankful for new figures, I got Hulk and Macho right away. Being a little kid I didn't analyze the change too much, I liked them all. It was weird using them in the LJN ring though at first lol.
But for as much as I liked hasbros back then, they never gave me the same fuzzy feeling LJN's did both playing with them and searching for them in the stores. I'm 33 and I can still remember where I found so many of my LJN's, like the Saturday morning where I finally found a Kamala in TRU or finally finding an Andre (long haired one) at Woolworths with my grandfather.

I never liked the Hasbros as I had every LJN, so I never purchased any.

I had a few LJN's that I'd picked up from boot sales at the time but it was always about the Hasbro's for me and my friends. This would have been down to an age thing though, as it wasn't even close when we chose our favourite figures. I actually loved the bright colours and designs of the Hasbro's but then this was maybe because I actually saw them regularly on their cards on the shelves. The LJN's were probably easier to play with though, due to the rubber material. I guess the question 'Hasbro fans, what do you think of Jakks Pacific?' Would be more suitable for myself.

As an original LJN fan who almost equally loved Hasbros, I pretty much quit when Jakks came out. The second I saw them, I was done. It wasn't until relatively recent years that I noticed their quality got infinitely better over time, which is nice to see. By that time I was out of collecting, though with the frequency at which they release different designs & molds I wouldn't have held interest long. That cheapens the whole thing for me.

I can relate to all of this and agree with every point. The Mattel Legends series aside, I've not been able to generate an interest in a lot of the lines, of course that's only personal preference and completely related to my first love of the Hasbro line.
