Funny you should say that. My coworker is a HUGE GI Joe and He-Man fan and he likes the original Power Rangers. He grew up in the 80s I always perceived Power Rangers as being like Captain Planet and the Planeteers, but then again I only saw commercials. I like Mightly Morphing and Thunder Rangers. After the cast kept changing and the show getting repackaged, I lost interest. I image Transformer, Voltron, and Ultra-Man fans accepted the show. For me, it was a natural transition from animated shows (only one show TMNT) to live action. Plus the intro was catchy, there was a long term story line, and the girls were hott (lol). If you are a Sailor Moon fan, I think Power Rangers ripped the whole Green Ranger amnesia plot. Could be the other way around. As for the movie, the trailer does a good job at selling the movie. I'm most likely going to take my kids to see it, but I don't have any expectations of it being better than what marvel is doing right now. As a toy collector, however, even if I like the movie (to fanboy status), I'm passing on all the domestic stuff. It all looks and feels cheaply made. Crossing my fingers that the Movie Rangers that SH Figuarts eventually produces won't be had to find or sky rocket in price almost over night. |
